Which Focus Mani is it ? RSvST

Not talking about Matt's fueling plate, talking intake manifold fitment.

It does not take much in the automotive world to get a different part number

all these plastic mani's use a form of o-ring gasket, all have the same bolt pattern for the head, apparently the PS area has some niggles, but if the solution retails for $50, I can deal with it. all have the same divided runners, tho they appear far more symetrical than the flappy paddle mazda concept.

The other area I find of interest would be the throttle body end of the mani, The OEM mani has always been difficult to enlarge in that area, and somewhat pointless with the oem throttle body

providing that the ford TB's connect and communicate correctly, they are bigger, and so better.

The diffence between the RS , and ST mani's may be the TB they were meant to used with, and traditionally, with a ford, RS is more better
The "big bore" throttle bodys for sale apparently trace back to the ecoboost mustang, also a 2.3

If you're looking out to see if there's a difference in fitment the best bet is reach out to ford and ask what the differences are and perhaps damond to see if they've tried it. I'm not aware of it's been tried.

Thats the plan

what I'm suspecting is that the RS will flow more and accept a larger TB, but some aspect of the transplant will make it impossible, or at least not worth the effort compared to the ST part
Hell yeah, I'm in for the results. I've got the ST mani PI kit and a CS tb so if it turns out the RS mani also bolts right up and does have a larger tb opening, that will be of interest to me.

What kind of flow are you hoping to get? Lots of people make over 500 hp on the damond setup and it hasn't shown to be any sort of restriction. The CS throttle body is bigger but same story it hasn't shown to be worth it as the gains are minimal on the average setup and drivability is less than ideal. I'm all for trying out new things but I think you might be over thinking this. It's not going to net you some mad power gaines.

Don't be a Debbie Downer, jd, lol.

I would be interested for the larger tb aspect if that proves to be true. At $50-60, it'd be a cheap way to get a lil bit more efficient flow matching it up to the larger bore CS tb.

I think also that if it works and is the same price as the st manifold why not go bigger?
hehe indeed, with the not unreasonable caveat pointed out above, some loss of fine control

The kid has 550ish as a goal, so its on the list

must be some reason Matt did not use the Cheaper mani, I'm only out $52 if its a major reason.
I have greater concerns over TB harness clips, and pinout compatability with the 75mm body.
from a plumbing perspective, once you've stepped into full custom land, that downward facing inlet might be easier to work with

My guy says the only difference is that the RS manifold doesn’t have the sound symposer port.

Boomba Racing SOUND SYMPOSER DELETE RED for 2013+ Ford Focus ST
cool, one less thing to plug up, I also noted they are not divided runners, so, hehe, the head will be losing a few extra grams there.

anyone seen the BOOMBA injector plate? its marketed for the focus/fiesta etc

same idea as the MD, but way cheapers.
Also, sadly, if I'm looking at the pics right, set up with a fatal design flaw imho, spraying into 1 runner per cylinder, and not even the same runner.

they have a nice meth plate tho,
