As some of you know, I recently just got back into an MS3 and I figured I would make a build thread as I bring this car back into shape. I bought a 2011 Mazdaspeed3 w/ Tech. 137k miles with a few minor mods done. Below is a photo of the car with its hideous wheels the day I bought her home….

Plans are as followed:

Upgrade the TIP/Intake
Upgrade the peeling steering wheel with a ZenCarbonFiber model
Upgrade to FMIC
Pretty sure HPFP is upgraded
Car came with a no-name BPV
Revert back to GenPu stock wheels
And I still need to figure out if the DP is stock or not.

Car is currently at the dealership getting the dash replaced since it was popping up in the usual spaces. Once I get that repaired I will have a few goodies that need to be installed.

Damn it, I just noticed I put this in the mazdaspeed6 section and not the speed3, can a mod move this?

As for today, I had the headlights refinished and clear coat was applied after. It’s hard to tell from the photos but it made a huge difference in person.

Car is currently at the dealership getting the dash replaced (ouch to my wallet) and received a clean bill of health after inspection.

Got my FMIC core in the mail from Graveyard, just waiting on the piping and crash bar to show up next. I also got a set of Pu wheels that were cheap because they were rattle canned white and the paint is starting to flake off. Should look better for the time being until I figure out a wheel choice.

Oh, and I’m working with a local vinyl shop to possibly do cherry blossoms down the side of car. So far this was their first mock up but I told them it’s a little too busy for my liking.

oof, looks like the part is ~$300 so i guess i will be tackling this myself.

maybe next summer

Dealership quoted $581 for the dash itself and the rest was labor. Believe me, I’m not happy about it but at least it will look good.

In other news, my FMIC came in today. I received the core a few days ago but the piping and crash bar came in today. Excited to get my car back so I can install this thing! I also got some rally armor mud flappies, upgraded HID bulbs, and a AccessPort. Still waiting on the Cobb TIP/SRI combo as well as a Cobb BPV to come in.

Do you have the actual part number available? Would make it easier to make sure I'm ordering the right thing

Picked the car up today and the dash looks great! Can’t wait until this weekend to install some parts and then work on getting a tune!

I had mine replaced under warranty, but it rattled everywhere. So one day I removed the whole thing again, and resecured it.

It's not hard. It does take a lot of time because you dont want to scratch or damage anything. Do it under shade, and set a whole day aside for it.

when i tackle it, it will be in the garage with a plan of getting it out one day and put back the next. good to know that its just tedious.

like when i had to change the BCM which is right above your left knee in the dash, had to start taking the interior out from the back seat due to the way everything overlaps. on a positive note i did get to vacuum 8 years of shit out from under everything and recover a pocket knife that had fallen through the gap in the cupholder.

My baysonR lip kit has been painted and will be installed shortly!
