Yup, that much hoosier is addictive. Strangely enough, I love running those tires in the rain. Its completely counter intuitive to use A7's in the rain, but actually works well. You don't expect much so you get to play around quite a bit.
Ok, I was bad at keeping this up. After Pagoda came Giant's Despair Hill Climb. That was my first time at that one, but the 110th running overall. So neat to have the history and people watching. I nabbed first and was a half second off setting a new record. Then came Duryea Hill Climb which is...
Interesting, used the other battery to fire up a high compression mazda3 engine then swapped it over. Either way, it did not end up being the battery.
After rechecking all the fuses and wiring, I found a switch in the glovebox that I didn't recognize. I talked to the original owner of the car...
Ok I forgot about the battery in the other race car. I grabbed that and threw it in to test the dead cell theory. 12.2v with key off, 11.75v with key on. Same symptoms, most of the gauge cluster off, no attempts to crank, and AP won't connect. Its weird, cluster seems to be able to turn on since...
Even though the gen1 fuse box is way different I still checked. There's no meter fuse in the bay, but there is one in the kickbox. That fuse was fine though. I'm going to go through all of those fuses tomorrow one by one.
That was 12.4v with key off, I can check with key on.
Ok, sorry I should have provided more info. This is a gen 1 and the battery is relocated to the trunk so I don't have that link any longer. I have confirmed that I'm getting the full 12.4v up to the engine bay.
I can toss on a different battery tomorrow to see if its a bad cell.
I checked all the engine bay fuses and all were good. I checked a few of the kick box fuses as well. The power window fuse is fine, even though the windows are not operational right now.
Are you talking about a link between the positive cable and fuse box, right at the fuse box? I don't see...
As the car was warming on Friday it just shut off. I went to start it again but turning the key returned nothing, not even starter click. The AP cannot connect to the ECU. I see that even key turned on the gauge cluster is blank except for the door open light and a blinking immobilizer light...
Well, sorry for the dead thread. I've been running events every other weekend so that's kept me hopping. Also getting the girlfriend's miata ready to run time trial also. That's finally done so I can focus on getting some of my spare cars fixed and sold.
That's said, I ran the Weatherly hill...
If you're considering the AEM failsafe, I have one sitting around in the garage that I haven't gotten around to. Also have a spare engine should you need one.
Here's the video from the first hill climb of this year, Weatherly. This was my first time on this hill so I held a little back, but finished 1.5s off the record.
