?? For seasoned tuners (re; hesitation)

This sounds exactly like a symptom I used to have. Do you have a check engine light involving cam/crank position correlation, or timing over or under retarded? My issue turned out to be an improperly timed intake cam, just a few degrees off. It ran great up top, but if I entered boost at 3000...

    davychronic's build

I'm a weirdo and the first thing I noticed in this picture was your transmission. Did you somehow replace your worn out shift cable bushings? Did it help at all? I don't even use the original cables anymore, but I'm sure a lot of people would like to have tighter cable bushings, without having...

    Custom Shift Cable

Turns out that I spoke a little to soon. Yes the cable is done for, no it did not snap. The nut for the bulkhead backed off, and was probably flopping around and at an angle. So when I yanked on it, it pulled the housing loose from the bulkhead. The cable is still perfectly fine, there's just...

Well, it sucks to revive this thread, but I managed to snap the fore/aft cable again. I guess I shifted too hard from 3rd to 4th, and it stayed in 4th. So I'll be ordering another cable and replacing it. It should be easier this time. And it's cheap, should be around $50 shipped. It's kind...

Post S3 install thread because KiwiFail

This is the turbo I've told myself I will use If I ever decide to build my engine. Kind of like a cheaper efr. What hotside did you to go with?

    No reverse lights

The connector for the reverse light switch is right next to the connector for the neutral switch. All of which is right next to your shift cables on top of the transmission. This is what my neutral switch connector looked like. That could just as easily have happened to the reverse switch...

That's great to hear. How did everything go with putting the two nuts for the firewall plate back on? That was one of the hardest parts for me.

Yeah, you adjust it by changing the length of the cables. You just have to thread the heim joints out or in, I would try one full turn at a time. You can do it at just one end or both. It does take a bit of trial and error to get right.

    Custom Shift Cable

It's been about a year so I don't really remember sizes. A set of metric sockets from 8mm up and some ratcheting and or flex head wrenches would be good. I think if I remember correctly the firewall bracket nuts are 10mm, and you'll need a wrench to get to them, preferably a flex head.

    Custom Shift Cable

I didn't remove the heater core. I pulled the radio stack, peeled back some of the carpet, moved the rear heat ducts, removed the airbag control module, and a couple of other things. The two nuts on the firewall bracket were very difficult to take off, and even harder to put back. There's just...

Haha, yeah, that drawing should be enough, it's a pretty simple part. May want to show them a picture of it as well so they can make sense of the drawing.

It still works at 57.5, that's what I'm using. It was tight fit, that's all. And no, the stock brackets won't work, the geometry on the bulkheads of the new cables is different. The geometry of the cable bulkheads from midwest are different, that's why the new bracket is necessary. I'll post...

    Custom Shift Cable

That looks like exactly what I ordered. The only thing I would change if I did it again would be to shorten the cables some. I'd recommend ordering an overall length of 57.00 inches. And when you get them, you'll probably have to cut some of the threads off of each end to fully utilize them...

Yeah I'm pretty sure that's how it is. I have no way of getting a bracket made now without hiring it out to a shop, otherwise I would try to help you out. If you have any questions about what you need I'm more than happy to help you out in that regard.

Page 5 is for attachment hardware, which you're having custom made by a shop. So you can skip that step. On that page, just hit "order your design". You then have to make an account, and go from there. I ended up starting over several times to get it all figured out. Let me know if you have any...

Unfortunately I no longer have a way of getting the bracket made. My friend who made mine quit his job as a machinist. Sorry. If you have to replace the cables, I still recommend upgrading while saving money. I'm sure you could find someone that can make the bracket for cheap. My original...
