    Rang-a-stang's GenWon

That is quite the setup to clean your intake valves! I've had it done once before, but never tried it myself. Looks like it makes a pretty big mess in the garage. Were you able to remove the k04 through the top of the engine without removing the exhaust manifold? How were the heat shield...

Should I replace or rebuild my turbo?

Sorry to hi-jack your thread @rang-a-stang, just curious about whether or not one should look to replace the stock BPV when installing the BNR S3 or CST4 and aiming for 300ish hP / 325 lb-ft of torque on pump gas.

Should I replace or rebuild my turbo?

@rang-a-stang, when I had to replace my MAP sensor (mine went faulty) I did it from the passenger side near the dipstick. It is tight quarters in there, but I did the job with barely having to remove anything...I think I just removed the intercooler shroud and that was all. The intake does not...

How do I pick a tuner?

Another benefit of going with Stratified (for Canuckle-heads like myself) is that they cover duty fees for any parts that you order through them that are shipped across the border. But I'm not plugging for them, because I would never be opposed to trying another tuner recommended on this forum.

How do I pick a tuner?

@mangosmoothie just gave you great advice about getting discounts on the tunes. If I go with a BNR S3, I might consider trying another tuner, but I've been working with Stratified. Mind you, since I'm still on stock k04, they are sending me flash tunes (their version of OTS). It'll be much...

Should I replace or rebuild my turbo?

Looks to be about $25-$35 US savings. That's a guesstimate though...

Importance of Accuracy in e85 Mixes

@aaronc7, I really shouldn't complain then. I'm WAY less than 100 miles away from the one and only e85 station in my province. Lucky I guess...hopefully they keep carrying e85.

Importance of Accuracy in e85 Mixes

That's a good idea...this is what I'll do. I'll hold on to two gas cans (yellow for e85) in the garage with about 3-4 gallons each of e85 and I will hold onto one gas can (red for gas) with 5 gallons of 91 octane. I'll store them on a shelf at an elevation higher than my tank and will use one...

Should I replace or rebuild my turbo?

I'm taking notes too... :icon_writing: Looks like the MAC valve will need a brass fitting for the 3rd port, and some sort of mounting bracket, in addition to the connector and vacuum hoses.

Importance of Accuracy in e85 Mixes

@Enki, unfortunately there is only one e85 station in my city. It's nice and close to my work, but with Covid, I'm working from home and don't drive too much. So in order to ensure that it's not a complete nightmare to deal with, I'd likely fill the car with e85 along with a couple or few 5.3...

Importance of Accuracy in e85 Mixes

Well, the time is nearly upon me to try and max out my k04 with an e30 blend. I've installed all of my supporting mods and have received my e30 tune. Just waiting to rundown the tank of fuel I currently have. Quick question for those of you who live an inconvenient distance from an e85...

Should I replace or rebuild my turbo?

@Awafrican, thank you for the correction. That makes a lot more sense than what I was saying with regards to the cost of revisions. I guess my point is that there's not a lot to gain by spending the $200 or $300 on a custom tune for near stock performance if theres no plans to modify for more...

Should I replace or rebuild my turbo?

One thing to strongly consider is that the $200 - $250 you'll be spending on custom tuning for the S3 will be a sunk cost, because if you decide you want to start modding for more power with the S3, I think it would be a second custom tune for your additional mods. This may be incorrect, but a...

    Help with reviewing my datalogs?

Those are great points. I haven't corrected the curves; didnt know I could do that. So I'd just have to look up historical weather data for the barometric pressure and use the intake air temps for ambient (I know that's not the best way, but hey, you know...science!). My car weight should be...

    Help with reviewing my datalogs?

Just got an email from Stratified stating my MAF calibration is spot on, so no adjustments necessary. :)

    Help with reviewing my datalogs?

I took one log when I installed my intake...the power curve looks almost identical, except boost was about 2 psi lower throughout. However, the intake air temps were about 21 degrees Farenheit lower than these latest logs. So maybe I gained about 5-10 hP with these mods...not sure if that...

    Help with reviewing my datalogs?

Hey everyone, I installed an upgraded TMIC (old Street Unit) and 3" test pipe with one step colder plugs as per my tuners recommendation this past weekend. I've taken a couple WOT datalogs, both ways down the same stretch of a relatively flat road. I am getting a bit of knock retard <1.0 KR...

What did you do to your ride today

I'll so some proper datalogs tonight and create a new thread so that you guys can shed some light on what I'm seeing...I'm just not experienced enough to know for sure. This is just a 91 map tune. E30 will be next week :)

What did you do to your ride today

Thanks @JohnnyTightlips. I'll have to redo my logs for sure then. If I see some knock retard (I.e. less than 2) when I'm WOT is that an issue?

What did you do to your ride today

I was very busy these last few days...I finally motivated myself enough to turn a few wrenches this weekend. 1) I bought a used street unit tmic that had broken tabs on it. I cleaned off the chipped paint, cleaned the inside of the intercooler with acetone, and had a welder reweld the broken...
