I use the same Cobb mount and stuck it on the same location; just beside ECS button. The trick is to not leave the AP mounted when you leave the car. The extra weight of the AP plus the Texas heat will soften it up to the point where it just falls right off. You can easily unmount the AP and leave it facedown on top of the steering column (with the cable still attached so you don't break the stupid clips), or you can store it somewhere else in the car. I also make it a point to press down on the mount for a good 2-3 seconds before mounting the AP back on. Ever since I've started doing this, I've not had any problems with the mount falling off.
 
I play soccer with a football, tried to slit my wrist with an electric razor, and tried to jump out a first floor window.

I don't know if you guys are first or second gen or ms6 without looking at profiles, but I find the little "cubby hole" above the hood release to be a really handy spot to stash the AP on my genwon...keeps it out of sight and doesn't require the cable to be disconnected.

Agreed; I'm sure others appreciate it, but the cable is definitely longer than what I need for my mounting location.

I drive a genpu. We have a little cubby hole just below the OBDII port. That is where I store the cable for the AP. I don't think the AP will fit in there with the cable. I used to disconnect the AP after I unmount it and leave it in the glovebox. A couple of weeks after the clips on the AP cable connecter broke, so I stopped disconnecting the AP after unmounting it. I find that storing it facedown on top of the steering column hides it enough to not attract attention.
 
Gotcha; I wonder if it's a different design between gens, I haven't really paid any attention to that area in any pics of the genpu cockpit that I've seen. I stash the AP and just let the cable float without detaching it.

I ran my cable under the dash and had to loop it a few times to eat up some of the extra length. Cable is completely hidden when AP not in use.

I had the clips break off on two of my AP cables so far, but I just emailed Cobb and they sent a new one out at no cost to me.

I generally just leave my AP in the windshield suction mount I got from Amazon, when I park the car (unless I'm in a particularly shifty area). With my tints and where I have the suction cup mounted on the windshield it's hard to tell it's even there...

As for the cable, that is looped and stashed in the little OBII cubby and then run up, behind the dash and out the little plastic plug that I have next to my traction control button because no tech package. I've had the blank plug out for a while now because I plan to mount some switches in it to control my emergency blue lights (volunteer firefighter), but once the plug is back in I will probably drill a hole in it to allow the AP cable to pass through so I can keep the same clean, mostly hidden cable routing
