Aftermarket crash bar and car insurance

Does anyone know how guys run these aftermarket crash bars and still get insured ? I want to get one for larger core but concerned that my insurance company will deny a claim messing with one of the biggest 'safety devices' on the entire car
 
Progressive replaced my treadstone bar with a JBR bar after an accident. They marked it down as an "intercooler support beam". Your experience could be different. You can always have a shop notch and box the stock beam for fit whatever cooler you plan on running.... and I'd probably recommend that as the treadstone and jbr aren't that great.

Sounds like you've got some pretty cool insurance. I think it would probably be safer to have an entirely new bar then have an oem crash bar that has been altered... I will try and see what my insurance says when I'm ready for the bigger cooler. I get everything confirmed in plain english so god forbid something happens I have a recorded conversation saying that I am covered with X modification
 
Do you really need that large of an intercooler? Could avoid the whole potential bag of worms with a smaller core.

To be honest, it really depends on whether I build the engine or not. If I stay on the stock block, I will probably just upgrade to a BNR s3 and keep it within very safe parameters (less than 350 torque no more than like 360 horsepower). I could run a core that fits under the oem crashbar that’s rated for 400 hp no problems. However, I am reallllly itching for that look of a tr8 core shining through a gv style grill

The adjuster's brother had a speed6. I was in and out with a check and behind the wheel of my dodge dart rental in less than an hour. Worst 2 weeks of my driving life with that thing.
 
Of course, if you do wreck, and somehow the object of impact cuts through the front of the car like a hot knife through buttah, and it impales the block, I can imagine 2 scenarios.
1) insurance voided over lack of safety equipment/modification.
2) total loss because damage exceeds value.

At this point do any of these cars have enough value to not automatically be totaled?

An ETS TMIC would solve your problem for those power goals
 
Have you got any info on the ETS vs. Corksport TMIC? Honestly I'd only heard of the corksport one until now, wasn't aware there were other options.
CS TMIC is marginal over stock when compared to the others TMICs: Stock < CS<CPE<ETS. I believe its comparable to somewhere in between the TR6 to TR8 cores. 350 with a BNRs3 would could obtainable on it, that's assuming no ethanol or meth (can max it on this intercooler).
Taking the BNRs3 out for a bigger turbo you should be able to hit that 450whp mark on the ETS TMIC. Running an ethanol mix certainly maybe adding meth you could see it 500-550, you'd be working it very hard getting into those numbers.
I know folks have made 350whp on 93 octane with 24 lbs of boost on the ETS TMIC with a BNRS4.

Hope that provides some insight.

Edit: to say 350 whp with BNR S3 on pump gas is obtainable maybe not easy you can make it out with the ets TMIC, limitations of the turbo in intercooler. Actually probably more limitations of the stock fueling system in that range.

cp-e and ETS both utilize a 3.25" core, CS uses a 3" core... unless you can find one of those unicorn OG 3.5" ETSes floating around.

cp-e has the plus of having threaded shroud holes and costs 150ish less.

+20hp over stock sounds very nice, that's a significant increase. And the anodizing is a nice option. Cp-e dyno shows a +10hp gain
Have my doubts about ETS doubling the horsepower gain with the same core thickness. CPE also has endtanks that flow very well, sealing shields and top quality fin design
