Anyone ever rebuild the rear brakes?

I picked up a set of Mazda 5 brakes for pretty cheap. Bought them just for the brackets to do the mazda 5 conversion in the rear, but I figure since I have the calipers too, why not clean them up and make them work/look nice. I plan to just swap them over fully assembled instead of just the brackets.

My question is, any one ever rebuilt them? Trying to figure out how they come apart, what I can and cannot take apart, and what I should/will need to replace. Figured before I dive in head long and just try to figure it out, I would ask if anyone has done it.

Curious, are the 5 brakes thread in pistons.
There's not much to a brake caliper as long as it's not a phonlic piston should be straight forward.

I've pulled the MS3 and MS6 rear brakes apart to replace piston seals. Once the caliper is off, you just actuate the ebrake lever (on the caliper) far enough to extend the piston way out and grab it, from what I remember. I think it's just a seal and dust boot on the piston that are a pain to get back in without folding over themselves.

@Maisonvi how did you get the rear calipers off your ms3? I have been looking for how to do it for years to get the rear calipers painted and cleaned up. I was told to just cut the parking brake cable and replace it. But I don't want to do that.

The mazda 5 calipers are the same number as the MS3 brake calipers. Just the mounting brackets move them out 1" in diameter.

Thanks, the manual looks like there is an SST for the boot, so I will see what that is and maybe make one if I have to

The Ebrake cable just unhooks and then pulls out. I can get you pics if you need.

That would be helpful, thank you! I am just scared to pull too hard on the cable. scared I'm going to fubar it all up
Here are the mazda 5 calipers I have at my desk here at work. The cables were cut but that was by the junk yard that I got them from
