Barett Strecker' of Contrive Design's MS3 AWD Kit!

Interesting. A tried and true combination of the CX-7 rear end, speed6 drive train and speed3 suspension, but with some very meaningful parts added. Love the wheel speed trigger ring design. I was following your posts on CS a while ago when you had just started this up on your own car.

I've seen people swap the entire rear end of an RS onto the speed3, was this something you considered as well? Speed parts in good condition are a finite resource after all.

For the mid chassis bracket, is it designed as a brace that would take the place of say a tb performance chassis brace? Or is it designed like the Mazda OEM bracket that doesn't really do much in terms of bracing and just more of a shield? Could a chassis brace be used in addition to your bracket you've designed?

What is the AWD controller solution? Moreover, is the power split constant 50/50, or does it vary like a speed6 would? Or is this something you leave to the user to tune for?

Unfortunately not a product I can stomach buying right now, though if it were I definitely would get in. Is there any plans to release this in the future if the group buy goes well, or is it a one time buy in?

Sorry for the question bombing.

The RS rear end was considered but avoided for a few reasons:
1) gear ratio....I never got to a point to validate this but my guess was the gear ratios were different and would require a gear change which would have been expensive and difficult to make happen
2) controlling would have been more difficult with the newer tech of the RS diff vs the very basic MS6/CX7 diff
3) the lug pattern is 5x108mm vs out standard 5x114.3mm so that would have required a hub change or adapter spacers...
4) the RS was also produced in very low numbers and was a much more expensive and exclusive car so I'd guess sourcing parts from it would be equally if not more difficult process.

The carrier bearing mount is 0.188" steal so I would imagine it adds some strength but I can't say how much.

Current AWD controller is an ON/OFF switch which gives you 100/0 F/R or 50/50 F/R torque split. I am working on a PWM controller that would give more control inbetween and allow some slip.

All good questions and I appreciate the kind words!

We have more than exceeded my goal for 20 kits and will be moving forward!

Hi Im new on here so I’m having trouble trying to figure out how to dm you but I’ve got an awd speed 3 that is desperately in need of your wheel speed sensor. The speedometer occasionally doesn’t work and theres no abs and I’m having traction issues because my dsc isn’t working so i just spin my front wheels. Please let me know if I can order the parts needed to get my awd setup working. I’ve currently got the cx7 open rear diff but i already have a speed 6 rear diff to install once i get the rest of what i need.
