Boosting in 6th Bad?

Hey fellow Mazdaspeeds members.

Is boosting in 6th gear bad?
Generally I only boost in 6th after already boosting in 5th and change gear from 5500 rpm up.
Reason I ask is that I have read more than once on this site and others" not to boost in 6th gear"
Flame away

I might be completely wrong but i thought boost was only really dangerous at low rpm. If my assumption is right then it depends what rpm you are at not the gear.

Yes I know not to be boosting under 3k from 2nd gear on and normally only boost at higher rpm's in 4th,5th and 6th.

Depends entirely on the tune as well as the build.
@Enki , Engine is not built but my Freektune does taper to lower boost quite aggressively for the higher Rpm's ( still on K04 )

Imo, if you're in 6th and boosting and your not going 120+MPH you're in the wrong gear. Downshift to pass.
@Ssinstaller , yes I am not lazy to downshift .. but lets say we are on a nice open and quiet piece of road and we just want to have some fun with another willing "lets have some fun driver".

Soo if I am reading the comments right I should be fine...Granted there will always be some risk

Let me elaborate:
Rods bend from cylinder pressure.
Cylinder pressure creates torque.
Torque falls off with RPM (usually).
Thus, boosting from low rpm in 6th on a small turbo with stock block is usually bad, unless torque output is kept sane (<350 wtq, stock turbo/block).

@Enki, Thanks , I get it.. Just thought that 6th gear was maybe not engineered too strongly and possibly a week point. I don't boost at low RPM in the higher gears. Do however continue boosting once I am in 6th gear if I came out of 5th boosting ( changing gear at 5500 - 6000 RPM )and still want to accelerate.
From my research( for what it is) it just seemed like people were saying not to boost at all in 6th gear.

You better slow your ass down.

Because of the gear ratio, even if the motor puts the same torque in, the actual acceleration will be lower in the higher gear. For most people who want to be pushed back into the seat with acceleration, then, they will ask for more in 6th gear than in 5th to achieve the same feeling of acceleration. The same basic principle applies all the way down the gears. So basically, most of the time you should be in the lowest gear possible for the current velocity if you really want to give it the beans.

If you're not already WOT coming out of 5th going into 6th, don't boost or put the foot down in 6th gear.

If you ARE coming out of 5th WOT and shifting into 6th, you're fine, as you're already high in the RPMs and you're not going to lug the engine and load up the gear at 3000 rpm or some shit.

I'm built and have an amazing tune, but I still do everything I can to not load gears at low RPM.

TL;DR just downshift and don't be lazy
