Yes I know not to be boosting under 3k from 2nd gear on and normally only boost at higher rpm's in 4th,5th and 6th.I might be completely wrong but i thought boost was only really dangerous at low rpm. If my assumption is right then it depends what rpm you are at not the gear.
@Enki , Engine is not built but my Freektune does taper to lower boost quite aggressively for the higher Rpm's ( still on K04 )Depends entirely on the tune as well as the build.
@Ssinstaller , yes I am not lazy to downshift .. but lets say we are on a nice open and quiet piece of road and we just want to have some fun with another willing "lets have some fun driver".Imo, if you're in 6th and boosting and your not going 120+MPH you're in the wrong gear. Downshift to pass.
Let me elaborate:
Rods bend from cylinder pressure.
Cylinder pressure creates torque.
Torque falls off with RPM (usually).
Thus, boosting from low rpm in 6th on a small turbo with stock block is usually bad, unless torque output is kept sane (<350 wtq, stock turbo/block).
