I’ve got a good stock pile of cardboard. Any good sized boxes I keep. Every season my garage floor gets new cardboard


I’ve thought about those foam tiles before but I’m guessing they don’t absorb oil and shit. The cardboard is great for absorbing them it dries and it’s still good lol

Still havent heard anything from wiseco regarding the analysis. They are dragging their heels looking for any other reason to blame for the failure.

Ive been searching for another suitable piston with my tuner and its not so easy. My tuner is extremely picky and i know why. i get it. Its just becoming a big pain to find a piston thatll work for me. There are so many little things to consider that most people dont care about for the average build.

I am slowly becoming demotivated on doing another build here.

I also vote stock - seems like a lot of work for "some" gain time-wise, and in the meantime you can drop in a new junkyard motor every year and still come out ahead with more track time to boot.

I am definitely liking the idea of OEM+.

K20's are common around here. i can find them easily locally. Valve train, cams, oil pump and good to go basically. I wont have the low end/midrange of the built motor and of course we cant rev it as high but itll still be competitive in class I THINK. We'll see this season. Ill have to find time other ways.

We'll see. obviously i am still stressed about this stupid failure and now the search for new hardware is just driving me crazy.

There is 1 piston that i really want to use. It ticks almost all the boxes but it would need some machining. If my machine shop is confident he can do it, then we'll go this direction otherwise OEM+ it is

Welp, I spoke to the General manager for wiseco Canada yesterday. Gonna be a long read and i dont care if you dont want to read it there will be no TLDR. fuck off.

This phone call was extremely unprofessional...
This guy knows as much about engines and internals as i know about brain surgery...less than 0. At least i know where the brain is located he probably doesnt know where pistons go in an engine...

He admitted to me "oh i wasnt paying alot of attention to the engineer but something like this is what they think happened"

I was told on the phone that the failure was probably assembly error, BUT the part they are blaming doesnt exist. It turned into dust during the explosion so im not sure how hard they had to squint to try and see this issue.

wrist pin C clip was not installed correctly.
the piston pin bores were ejected and turned into dust. Nothing to analyze there which is how i know this is a creative BS. I cant argue it and they cant prove it but it is their assumption.

maybe if i was banging out 10 engines per week something like that COULD happen but 1 engine over a few days being looked over 100000 times...
Its an impossible failure which i know wasnt on me. There is a 0% chance.

Those Clips are a MAJOR pain in the ass to install. Finger gets stabbed and it sucks but there is a groove which the clip "clicks" into. It is very obviously if the clip is installed correctly or not. And again, double, triple, quadruple checked all of these fine details before pistons/rods were installed into the engine.


The idiot THEN proceeded to tell me "the other 3 pins are bent but thats not what caused the failure" I cant see an educated man making that statement. I am no doctor or engineer but ive seen enough in my life to understand when someone is bullshitting me a nice pile.

He also made the comment "we offer upgraded wrist pins" well your sales girl did not offer it to me and i was very clear 2 times face to face with both the sales girl AND THE GM who i met with when i purchased these pieces of shit. IS IT MY FAULT I DID NOT ASK FOR UPGRAED WRIST PINS??? THIS IS ALSO ON ME??


End of it all, he offered a discount on some nice door stops...pfffft what am i gonna do with your 1 pound heavy as fuck upgraded wrist pins which are good for 8000rpm on a k20 with how heavy they are. Thats garbage to. offer one garbage to replace another garbage because you do not understand engines. Says too much about the company and lack of any real knowledge.

I requested to have everything sent back to me and guy acted surprised even though that is in my very first email after i dropped the shit off. I WANT IT ALL BACK. Of course they are hesitant. He says they still want to check things and do a hardness test on the pins. This is also how i know they are bullshitting me. If its my fault then case closed...?


I will say with all the research this has lead me to do, its SO clear wiseco, along with the other basic bitch brands do not make internals for endurance race engines but for mexico pulls weekly with my homies or drag racing which is a joke compared to what my build was aimed at. The materials used by wiseco are considered not even suitable for basic pins by other brands.

Fuck made in china. Fuck what works for most should work for all. Fuck wiseco.

I also understand your issue with the c clips for the wrist pins. They don't just come out. If they did you'd have known it long before that engine failed.

Im pretty bummed about the outcome but i was also fairly confident i knew they were gonna blame me. Let me post the pictures of the piston so you can all see for yourself what they looked at to come up with this BS theory. The other part they dont know, i have video of the block before i tossed it. there is exactly 0 witness marks on either left or right side of the cylinder. If the clip came out and the pin came out the noise/damage left behind wouldve been MASSIVE.

I know they are full of shit because i know too much at this point...the whole "i know more than you" thing is very real here.

I guess this is what happens when you spec a tapered 0.137" wall pin thats made out of chinesium(ive confirmed wiseco uses the shittiest material here vs other brands). Everyone else is using minimum 0.150" pin with NO taper
