Cheap Valve Spring Option

thanks for the confirmation Mr Tightlips sir.
we'll be doing CS cams/GM retainers/and the crower 65# linked above. glad to hear this has shown to be free of coil bind
OEM seats are in use I presume.
curious as to why CS cams? I thought they did not perform too well, or am I missing something

Hey y'all. I've got a 2014 Fusion 2.5L I'm trying to get some cheap thrills out of. Going to be a strictly street car so keeping bottom end stock (until possibly if/when engine needs to be rebuilt I might upgrade to flat top pistons) and almost strictly bolt ons, so that would mean I'm looking at Crower's 62551 cams with the MSS VCT delete. My question is: would I see any worthwhile gain from this spring setup on my stage 1 cams? I realize crower says I don't need to upgrade springs, but is there anything to gain if I do?

Engine mods for reference:
K&N intake tube (including valve cover relief) with AirAid 721-432 synthamax filter.

Throttle Body machined by Maxbore (bored out to 64mm, machined shaft with "flush" butterfly hardware)

MSS MAEN'8327.7 UD waterpump pulley (Designed for D20/D23 ford focus...but fits D25 water pump just the same)

93 Octane Tune by Livernois Motor Sports.

Also planning on modifying stock manicat by cutting off just before the downstream O2 and grafting on a 2006 Mazda 6 manifold (also adding upstream O2 bung to manifold and a j pipe to the downstream O2).

No one here will be able to give you any definite answers related to your car but generally speaking the reason you upgrade valve springs is to support a more aggressive cam or higher rpm there is not performance gain from just the springs they allow you to make other performance upgrades. If the cam manufacturer says you don't need them I would not bother

Thanks EB

But what about cam followers? Do I really need aftermarket followers or am I just as well off with factory replacements?

I liked the shape of the curve with the sheet they published, one goal was to broaden the torque curve.
The quality issue was a 2 part plus debacle of supplier head ache and miscommunication. While the trust may be tarnished, the v3 current product has had good things said about it, for what thats worth

Not sure if OG still around.. questions on the retainer keepers, it will be using back the stocks keepers with this setup?
