Crank Keying Crank, Pulley and Spockets

Update! Called my local machine shop who just so happen to specialize in Ford motors and they said they have no problem keying my crank or pinning the cams.
How mucho are they quoting you if you don't mind me asking?

I'll get back to you tomorrow sir! Also if it's a good price and you don't have a local shop that can help you know you can always send your stuff out to me homie and I'll get it done for you!

Yes sir! Will do. Not sure if I really need it for my power goals. But it's nice to have options!

Holy shit $90 is cheap. Like "maybe I wasn`t clear what I need done" cheap. LOL. I`d jump on that.

I mean I have to get the crank pulley and gears, that's not included but for the labor of the keying and all that yea it's $90

See this is the first motor that I'm building, and I'm slightly retarded so I definitely want the added security. A couple hundred bucks is worth protecting my 4K motor if you ask me.
Safety is big for me. I found some recommended shops for the different jobs. All specialize if different building techniques and many don't believe in the key way unless it is something factory made.

this did not go unnoticed.

What was their reason for not believing in a key way?

2 dude... 30yrs and another 40yrs in the business said somewhat the same thing. Summary: majority of all engines are the same and when using the manual with the basic techniques, you can't go wrong. All these new modification that doesn't all to horsepower are safeties for those that aren't 100% about what they are doing on a selected platforms. Some come with build in ket way but there was a reason for that on each. Others need it some safe keeping but a true build don't need added mods if they knows what they are doing. etc and etc

I kinda agree to an extent. At 500hp, you would be a fool not to key the crank in these cars IMO. Plus I just really hate the idea of friction washers. I think they're a terrible design on a high performance engine, that sees high boost.

I can agree with that. At the end of the day, it goes back to this statement:

As I always say when talking about this, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
