I dont know how to embed video or anything but here is a link to a video i made showing the car running with the ls2/7 coils.



Now i can finish my bracket since i know they work and i can open my spark plug gap up to say 0.025 to start since i know the old coils couldnt handle that. Theres still quite a bit of snow and shit everywhere so i probably wont go driving around but that will give me a little time to play around with my fuel pump situation as well. So there it is, possibly the first mazdaspeed 6 on lsx coils thats complete plug and play.
 
It's crazy all the trouble people went through trying to find stronger pnp coils for these motors, when the ls coils wire in this easy..

Im pretty sure there is a capacitor in the factory mazda harness or at least the wiring diagram shows there is and the gm wires look thinner than they are. Stupid gm like plastidips their wires so they look thin but they are at least the same gauge as the mazda wires.
 
There is a noise suppression cap on the coil grounds, but nothing on the power supply side in our oem wiring.

Also, the ecm sensor ground is the brown wire in pin A of the map sensor and the fuel pressure sensor if you need a cleaner ground for the coil logic circuit under load. I'm sure it works fine with all the grounds connected together, but if the gm engineers felt the needed to be seperate there must be a reason.

Weird i thought i saw there was a capacitor in the B+ side on the wiring diagram. Im already tapped into the pcm ground on the cam sensor so easy to pull off that if i need to but lots of different cars that use these coils, ive read, just wire the pcm ground wire to the chasis ground wire. I just hope these coils eliminate spark blowout or this is all worthless but like i said theres 1400hp supras running these coils so ill bet they will be a nice cheap upgrade for us.
 
You're right, I just looked again and it is across the 12v lead.

I hope these coils work out well. I had to buy the overpriced hks ignition amp to deal with my spark issues after I built my motor. If these work out for you, I'll probably end up with them at some point once my motor is back together.

Best thing to do is go in halfsies with someone and you may find better deals. Took lots of searching to find just a set of 4 coils with the stock chevy harness and bracket. Wires too, i bought 8 but was still cheaper than if i wanted to make my own.
 
Ok so im not quite ready to start bragging about ls coils but im not done playing with them yet. Under boost they feel a little different than spark blowout, not quite as harsh but something is clearly happening that shouldnt be. So im going to try and wire the pcm ground in where it should and try to find a 1.0uF capacitor to wire in the B+ side and see what happens. I talked to a few friends that build high hp 2js and they said running 30+ psi of boost the plugs should be gapped anywhere between 0.018 and 0.022 so i dropped the gap back down to 0.022.
 
I would just gap them down to .018 to .020 and see if it is gone. I lowered my gap and i had blowout still... I was thinking of all kinds of shit then i was like fuck this im lowering it to .017 and if i still have it then it's not blow out and i quit. I would then promptly go full blown gay leather vest, mustach and leather chaps idgaf mode and buying a miata. I settled at .020. Others had luck with more others less.

Honestly im starting to just think my plugs are ready to be changed and im going to just throw in a new set and see what she do. I threw on the factory coils and it does it again when it didnt at this gap before. Ugh this is frustrating, i just want to get this bitch going already
 
Im just going to run to the local, 45 miles away, auto parts joint and pick up a set of itv22 Densos tomorrow. If i order them monday and get them towards the end of next week its likely ill be busy finally starting farming and the car will sit til mid june when i get time to play with it. Thats my only issue, thanks for the heads up tho. Thats a sweet deal.

Be careful with those densos I had the insulator break in 7k miles on the k04 e30 luckily it didn't shatter and fuck my life up lol. I bought mine monday it came thursday if that helps. Can't wait to see it run on kill
 
Ok so heres the deal, i went and bought some new 6510 plugs, gapped them to 0.018 and it still does it. Im going to try the ls coils one more time with these new plugs and if it still does it then im parking it in my trailer til August when ill have more time to look at it.

Well still doing it so its parked until i have time to look at it probably in mid august. Ill likely just pull all the pi stuff off and go back to meth for aux fuel when i didnt have any trouble. Sorry to disappoint...

So did it run well on the ls2 coils when the aux fuel controller was not installed?

How exactly is your new split second controller wired in? Which wires at what OEM sensors are you using?
