davychronic's build

Yea i figured he was busy either way turned out better fo me because i wasnt real happy about losing my washer res and have my hotpipe go right over the top of the engine. Im glad i did things my way. Pain in the ass but worth it now that im almost done and i became better at tig welding in the process.

Brakes are bled, wheels are on, cars on the ground. Life is good.

Having the bov flange welded on professionally, i dont trust my skill level with that. But that should be done tomorrow morning then i just have to weld up one more pipe and im done.

Have you thought about trimming those flares to fit right over the tire instead of it protruding so far?

Ive thought about it but the risk vs reward isnt worth it to me. They extend almost an inch passed the tires but they curl underneath at the edge and getting them all cut just perfect isnt something i want to try. When i find a clean vrm speed 6 to swap everything over one day then ill probably try to get away with smaller flares now that i know how everything fits.

Well she starts runs and drives, no leaks no cel. Only problem im having is the split second controller, if power is supplied the injectors are on so i guess i have those wired backwards and i am not getting a tach signal. I wired the tach signal wire to the left most wire on the #1 coil which was a blue/orange wire. Ill have to dig into that a little more once i swap the wires on the injectors. @AYOUSTIN what wire did you use for tach signal?

Oh man that was a while ago. I put connectors in my SS controllers so they could be removed from the car. There was three total, one harness went to the injectors, one went to the coils, and the last one had power, ground, 5V signal. IIRC I had wires going to every coil to get a tach signal but I'm not toally sure. I bought a tuck harness from Eric and he made the harness to have a connector for a tach signal to the SS but I remember making the other end of the connector and using 4 wires.

Thats a bummer, im going to have to dig around to figure that out. @Sho how did you get your tach signal for you ss controller?

In the meantime i figured it runs great without the ss controller hooked up so i figured id at least go out and get a few logs to start dialing in my maf and the turbo feels a lot more responsive. Which is what i expect from what ive just upgraded. I need to run the rest of this tank of gas out an fill up on fresh e30 so hopefully i get the tach signal figured out and start to give it some wgdc.

I can get an rpm signal from the injector wires but its about 1000 rpm off from what i can tell, maybe its only a software setting to fix that...

Well things ive tried...

Cam signal
Injector pulse
Each wire at each coil pack
Wiring all four of the left coil pack wires together

No dice, i get the best result from the injector pulse, idles shows 2100 istead of 1100

Now i fucked up and tried to probe the wire wot boxes use and it blew the ignition fuse so now i have to find out what happened there...
Burned up number 3 ignition coil

Luckily my wife is an ambulance nurse and happens to be on the way to a city that sells autoparts and she can pick me up a coil

IIRC the controller should be set for 2 cylinder 2 stroke so you get one injector pulse per intake stroke.

This ss controller can individually set pulses per intake stroke in the software. Ill try and put it in 2 stroke mode again when i get this coil and hopefully have better luck.

Did your controller come with the trigger circuit for the coils? The left wire at all 4 coils are connected to the trigger circuit and it outputs a combined signal to the SS controller.

The only thing else you should need is the maf voltage connection and power and ground.

It did not come with this trigger circut you speak of, i did however build a harness that sounds exactly like what you describe.
