Deal, or NO deal?

I want to buy an MS3. I found one that seems to be a solid platform. '07 with 111kmi and was told the following:
" a Cold air intake, turbo inlet pipe, it is the stock intercooler no modification there. Aftermarket high pressure fuel pump internals alongside NGK one step colder plugs and cobb downpipe with a custom catback exhaust. The car was previously tuned by Justin at freektune so he knows the vehicle very well and the car was tuned for the modifications that were installed. Justin would be happy to send a new tune once you buy an accessport tuner for the vehicle."
Asking for $7900. The car is clean, looks to be well-maintained. Is it worth the asking price. Any other questions I need to ask before the purchase?
Please, weigh in!

Can you get a compression test done on it? Why is the owner selling? Price might be a little high, since it sounds like the car won't come with an Accessport?

How much timing/boost to get 400whp on that BNR S3? That's pushing it hard. I stayed at 385whp with 24psi and 17-degrees timing.

Anywho, GLWS.
I dynod on e85 with 370/355
I have not been dynod on meth but I do believe it's right around 400whp I'll have to look at timing. I'm at 26psi though.

Good question,
I'll ask, but the honesty of people these days? I was thinking it was a little much, but the main thing are the internals have already been installed with the dp & intake that is $aving some loot. Here's the car I'm looking at...http://inventory.carlotz.com/web/used/Mazda-Mazda3-2007-Midlothian-Virginia/34117928/

There's always this one. A local Nator member is selling it. Engine is crazy solid. I believe he has fairly recent compression numbers.

Not trying to derail the thread OP, just wanted to post another option that people can vouch for.
Dude,
Only if you lived closer (I'm in NC). You've done most of the mods I am planning (except BNR S4), but looks like a very nice car.

Aftermarket parts decrease the value of a car, it is not supposed to increase the value of it when selling. You're probably going to get a new intake anyway since you mentioned wanting to get a BNR S4 in the future. So I wouldn't put too much value on the car already having mods.

Also are those really the wheels that will come with the car when you buy it? That's even more reason to think the price is a little too high.

Ahh.... yeah, 26psi is high for an S3. Justin (FREEKTUNE) wanted to keep me at 24-24.5 for longevity. But for a fun/hoon map that you run rarely, 26psi can be great :D

Yeah,
The seller claims he put the original wheels on his other car, and these are the winter wheels. Don't really care, because I've got some 18's in mind.
$6800???

Are you buying from a dealership or from the seller? I think $6800 would be better, but since it doesn't have the stock wheels, you can probably use that to negotiate an even lower price from there.

It's a consignment dealership (never heard of that before). So, I'm not in direct contact, but the agent is really trying to make this sale. So, I'm thinking it's to my advantage. They are willing to do a compression check as well. Not the color I wanted, but allows me to get ALL the mods I have within the budget I made. I have set a budget of $6-7K for the mods (not including the car). Pretty sure that's a healthy start to getting what I want (400whp).

Ah, that makes sense. Yeah have them do a compression check just to be sure. Then go on Kelly Blue Book and Edmunds and get the estimated value of that car. Print those out and take it with you when you go to the dealership. You can use those as a reference point to negotiate the price of the car. Also, if you're paying cash, they might be more inclined to drop the price even more.

I only use methanol at the track. I use my e85 daily though.

Tbh op if i were in your position i would try to get a great deal on a blown up speed and get a edge autosports remaned block and fresh clutch and have fun for the next 100k miles. What are your long term goals? Romp around and sell after a few years or are you thinking long term speed ownership.

Second anyone who knows anything about speeds KNOWS 400whp on stock block is borrowed time.... that is unless its a forged rod car.

Fury,
Is there a site that offers used/broken MS3's for sale? I'm only aware of this forum and Mazdaspeed Forums. I figure to keep the car 8-10 years and pass it on to one of my sons (whoever wants it). Yeah, I've been checking out Edge Autosports (Whitezilla is awesome!). Knowing that I could build a 500+ hp car from 2.3L is krazy! As mentioned earlier, trying to keep the budget below $20k. It will be a genpu for certain (aero = hi-speeds), and I like to go Autobahn fast. I don't know where this 'Hp fever' will end! Once I get the car, I'll start posting a build thread. Anyone out there watching it, feel free to make suggestions.

Trust no used car. Supporting Metal Members get autocheck, so if you want to donate to MSO, we can see how many wrecks it was in before it was totaled in a flood after being repossessed.

Totally get it inspected no matter what. And what people ^^^^^^^ said.
