I am new to the Mazda/MazdaSpeed life, as I have been a Speed3 owner for about a week now, after purchasing @speed3bob 's red gen 1 after he posted it for sale here on the forums. I had her shipped down from MA to LA using Auto Movers USA, which was a pretty smooth and painless process, and got plates on her the next day.

My primary reason for buying an MS3 was to replace my current DD (R53 MINI Cooper S); as it was getting too small for family needs, and I wanted something fun with 4+ doors to drive daily, that I could slowly mod over time. Will primarily be smaller bolt-on and cosmetics upgrades for 6-12 months before doing any big performance mods, but will post anything significant here.

Immediate plans:
  • Just swooped a CPE RMM from their clearance sale - will install that soon.
  • Cobb shifter weight to replace the heavy stock weight
  • Remove side moldings
  • Some tints to keep out the LA heat
  • Sexy shiftknob from @Maisonvi
  • Upgrading whatever @JohnnyTightlips breaks when he drives it next month

Have not had much time to do car stuff lately with the wedding coming up so soon, but did have a couple hours yesterday to get a few things done. Installed my smoked side markers and Ebay mud flaps, along with a much smaller shift counter weight. Feels much better with the smaller weight, and am happy with how the flaps turned out.

The stock shift counter weight weighs 549 grams if anyone was wondering.

Nice to know, was always wondering how much weight the aftermarket ones took it down to.

Did you buy smoked markers or do them yourself? I used VHT NightShade for full ricer scene points when I did mine.

Honestly at this point any car with them still on is so old that they are fused to the paint. You aren't getting them off without respraying the door. Unless you wait about ten more years and they will fall off on their own.

False.
