EBCS, boost issue

I'm having a problem when at WOT (or really any throttle position that's building boost). I get boost cut at around 10-12 pounds, and then it sounds like the wastegate flapper is just flopping opening up off the wastegate spring pressure. I put in a call to Corksport and they said while it's uncommon, it's not unheard of for their EBCS to fail, and that the symptoms I have of boost cut at 10 pounds on their CST4 sounds like the EBCS could be the culprit (out of warranty by several years unfortunately). I've checked the bleed setup, and at the recommendation of my new E-tuner, Dramatuning, I'm going to reconfigure for an interrupt setup. I don't have any line leaks that I can find. I'm going to throw on the new EBCS when i get home in a few weeks and will update this thread when that happens. Let me know if there's anything else it could possibly be that I should check. Thank you in advance!

Fwiw an EBCS is really just a 30-40 dollar 3 port MAC valve. You can get them for cheap.

Take the downpipe off and inspect the flapper and waste gate itself. Make sure it isn't broken or damaged or that there are cracks around where the flap closes.

Seriously? Well Dramatune hasn't touched it yet. This car only just got running recently again after several years, so it's still on it's original tune from Rob at Hypnotic. When I got all of it put back together, it was running fine, but had a check engine light for a day or so. I went through it again and found that the MAF sensor backed out and when I plugged it back in is when the issue started with the boost cut. No check engine light.

Has any hardware changed since it last ran fine on that tune? If you changed something, it could cause issues with the tune.

not really. new CS injector seals, DMM OCC, media blasted intake valves, nothing that in my mind would cause the tune to freak out. It ran fine until I plugged the maf back in, ironically.

it'll have to wait til I get back to florida. Suffering out in Southern California desert right now. I ordered the EBCS so I'll just throw that on as well and then do the log. Should be home around the 8th and I'll update this thread

When you say boost cut, you mean the ecu just dumping the commanded boost right? Because that's what boost cut actually is.

No I'm probably using the wrong term. It feels like the wastegate is just flapping around on spring pressure and isn't being held shut. it'll go up to 10 to 12 pound (ish) and that's it.

OK so it's just not making boost then. Checking hoses and replacing the EBCS is a valid tshooting step then.
If you had actual ECU boost cut then we would want to look at logs to see what it's doing, and where/why it might be cutting.

Good to know i'm at least in the right direction then. How in the heck could a flapper valve or IWG get bent or damaged though? It seems really unlikely that could happen, as much as I'm looking for an excuse to upgrade to CS EWG system.....:)
