If you don't have a Accessport and you remove the EGR, could you solder a resistor or some thing to trick the CEL light. into staying off?

Yes, people have. Get Versatuner for like $300 and a tune though.

So there is no way to trick the ECM without a tune and the Versatuner? I was thinking something more like this.
Template public:_media_site_embed_youtube not found. Try rebuilding or reinstalling the s9e/MediaSites add-on.

If you remove or block the egr, it will cause a CEL. Now a resistor may work But if not, it can be bypassed with the programmer.

Major Noob quetions,
If a programmer is used will it need to stay plugged it when ever the vehicle is driven or does it alter the ECM/OBDII, etc permanently?
Will I need to reprogram if the battery dies or is disconnected?

Nope, yes it changes the ecu, no on reprogramming. Look up VersaTune in the Approved MSO Tuning Vendors section

Checking it out right now.
[doublepost=1555460020][/doublepost]The Versa Tune website has opened a can of worms in my head. I'm sure I'll be asking questions of Versa Tune in the Tuning Vendors section.
