Exhaust pop when shifting

ever since my car has been tuned (thanks, Rob!) every so often the exhaust will pop during a shift. doesn't have to a be a very heavy throttle to make it happen. @JohnnyTightlips told me it was cool and that i should like it. and i do :D it typically occurs during 3-4 shift.

i watched some youtube vid randomly a while ago (some bro tuning his lambo, so ya know, similar car) and it was mentioned i think by the tuner that the popping can actually have an adverse effect on the turbo (back pressure?). anyone think this is true or not? so far my k04 is living a seemingly decent life and hoping i can ensure that continue to be the case.

I believe it's just extra fuel getting into the exhaust and going boom. I could be wrong though.

i think you're right. just curious if anyone else feels that the pop creates any back pressure that affects the turbo.

oh i do enjoy it. i sorta snicker every time it does it as it's typically unexpected. i just wanted to make sure i wasn't hurting anything along the way.

Yeah it is just a little extra fuel between shifts that gets ignited in the exhaust , def not enough to hurt the turbo. If you were doing some gnarly wotbox launch control with 15psi and all the explosions that would start to wear out the hotside.
