[SOLVED] fluctuating hpfp psi, p0202, afr 29 on throttle

chris' speed 3

so this is my first post,

If u want to go straight to what my issue is skip the details next ill put troubleshooting in bold

I bought my 2013 speed 3 in may 2022 at 134xxxkm and its now just over 140xxxkm. since buying it I've learnt that it has a gen 1 engine, engine is "fine" (comp. 170,150,140,145) i know its not great and it burns some oil not much but it does.

Maintenance ive done: All within 5k km
oil change 5w-40 (pretty much stopped oil consumption)
Turbo doesn't smoke on idle
Added autotech hpfp before i started driving the car
cleaned valves (walnut blast)
NGK step colder plugs
Cleaned and flow tested injectors less then 1000km ago

Mods:
AP
MF CBE
COBB TIP
SURE intake
Turbosmasrt BOV
Egr tube delete (valve is still there)
Freektune at 21psi+/-

TROUBLSHOOTING

So a week after i owned the car a p0300 came up and that has been going on ever since after trying many things to fix it

so the codes that i currently have are as follows
p0202
p0442
p0300
p0128
p0441(egr code)

So sunday night im driving with my lady on a nice date and the speed decides it wants to be problematic so im sitting at a red light and then it just starts stumbling like rpms bouncing between my usual 1krpm idle down to 6-700 and back and forth. I take a look at my afrs on my AP i see 29 as well as p0202 so im like shit i need to drive around the corner and see what going on so i try and the car stalls. So i push the car out of the way and pop the hood. i look around, don't see anything usual, so i call my dad he tells me to check the fuses. One of the fuses pops back in and the car is good to go.

Now present day 2 days after that happened on my way home the car starts stumbling/misfiring I can feel it being weird. so im looking at my AFR and HPFP pressure and its absolutely all over the place hpfp was giving me very low pressures for the conditions(400 on accel.) and AFR ranged from 10-29 through normal driving. Engine light also flashed a couple different time and i had to stop the car kill the engine and restart it a couple times to get it normal again.

So that's my current issue

Should be worth noting one of my dads friends who's a mechanic told me a couple months ago that it could be my hpfp causing my misfire.

So what is going on? Has anyone experienced this before? know what to do? just any advice please, I need my car to get to school and im not sure what to do

First off you shouldn't be running step colder plugs with a stock turbo; only run them if your tuner specifically says you need them.
Secondly, you probably missed a ground or perhaps didn't put the HPFP together quite right. What guide did you use for this? I don't think anyone sells a complete pump for our cars anymore, and Autotech never did.

I didn't touch the hpfp since i installed the internals 5000 km ago and the car was running well until 2 days ago. The only thing i can think of is the occ i intsalled on the weekend VC to Intake maybe my hose is contacting the ground for th fuel pump? I don't know where the ground is though. Its nothing to do with installation of the pump because I would have had problems sooner.

You said you were running a 5w40 oil; I'm 100% certain this won't be a Dexos oil, so what is it?

You may need to pull your HPFP and clean the shit out of it that might have built up in it.

A rubber hose shouldn't be causing any shorts unless it's rubbing through insulation on multiple wires.

The 5w-40 oil has been in for about 800km, its penzoil platinum euro.

As for the rest i just rolled the car into the garage and im going to take a look at the ground and the wires around it. I took a log that i'll attach. The main issue seems to be the pressure in the hpfp is very inconsistent and low causing the car to shutter as well.

Also my hpfp with koeo is 57psi so that checks out based on what ive read the intank pump should be sending

Log says your pressure is fine. More wondering if it's your plugs now. You running 93 pump gas or some higher % ethanol content?

my pressure was reading 400 when I was applying throttle isn't that way too low? Also i'm on 91 octane

wouldn't it be odd that my plugs are causing these issues even with a p0202 code?

Rail pressure is based on RPM and load, and has it's own table for commanded values.

Sorted your log by calculated load, descending:

The only one that looks even slightly iffy is the 5th row, but the RPM and APP is too low for me to even raise an eyebrow.

I missy have taken some other logs before I realized there was an issue I’ll look through them.

I took a couole pictures around my hpfp I don’t think anything looks visually wrong maybe you could notice something I’ll attach it

what should I do? Do u want me to take plugs out and see what’s going on with those, I don’t even know where to start looking. And your suggesting it may not even be fuel system related so I’m at a loss

Well, you're missing a hose that's necessary for proper PCV operation there behind the HPFP on the valve cover. Also holy shit that engine is filthy lol

Yeah I know I know it’s dirty it was like that when I got it.

And yes I am missing a hose that’s where my occ connects too I took it off along with my intake to take those pics I’ll attach a picture of my occ there’s two of them down there that’s not the issueimage.jpg

Cylinder #2 spark plug that had the p0202 code

You need to have that hose connected for the PCV system otherwise you're creating a massive vacuum leak. That will cause a lean condition.

Your cyl2 P0202 is an injector malfunction code. Your spark plug dosent look bad, hard to tell with vid quality. Connections and harness to injectors good? The injector connectors have been troublesome to a few members. Might be worth a look.
Still dosent explain some of the other issues.

I’m going to take my intake manifold off now to see the harness as well as try and test it with my multimeter

as for my spark plugs I don’t think they’re an issue I was just showing them cause Enki was mentioning them.

thanks for your help

Yeah it will also shoot oil all over my engine bay, it’s connected to a occ and I unplugged the hose with my intake to look at my fuel pump

I got my manifold and fuel rail off and the injector wiring once again looks fine, I have a multimeter but I’m not sure how I’m supposed to use it

also like I said in the first post my injectors were cleaned like 3 weeks ago

If your VC breather port shoots oil everywhere, that engine doesn't have long to live. The amount of blowby that should be able to get through that port should be rather small because of how it's configured, unless someone modified the valve cover for more flow. Even then, the significance of your phrasing isn't lost on me.

Ive never tried that, i don't know what it will do if I try running it without it. Idk what happens. This is all irrelevant to my issue. My injector circuit is the problem im trying to diagnose

you need to look at the pins in the connector to make sure that they are straight and actually plugging in correctly

im going to take a look at that, what I don’t understand is the car was working fine for the last 3 weeks since I did the maintenance on my injectors so why is it all of a sudden the plug would be faulty?
