Gen 2 seats

I have a 2011 Mazdaspeed3 Gen 2 with the Tech Package and I’m looking into aftermarket front seats. My main concern is the factory side airbags and all the sensors/wiring in the seats. I don’t really want to mess up the SRS system or have an airbag light on permanently.


Has anyone here swapped aftermarket seats into a 2010–2013 Speed3 and found something that works well with the factory airbag system? Ideally I’d like something more supportive and better looking while keeping as much of the factory safety equipment.


What seats, brackets, or setups are you guys running? Any pictures or info on what was needed to make everything work would be appreciated.

I have a sparco evo II US racing seat (just slightly wide for me, but i'm skinny) with the sparco side brackets and the planted seat bracket (base). I have the speed 6, but it's the same for the 3. You'll have to wire a resistor for the other bags to work if you do the easy route.. cutting off the seat airbag, it looks like a pain in the ass to remove it from the stock seat.

I'm not sure about the 3, but the planted brackets in the 6 are slightly off and may require modification to fit all the bolts perfectly.. and fyi, sparco 600 base brackets are re-branded planted ones.

I crash tested the side airbags, and seat airbags in a 2021 Mazda 3. 0/10, do not recommend. Also, if daily driving, keep OEM seat, use racing seat for racing. People are stupid, and you need to protect yourself from them.
