Hey team,

I'm a new Mazdaspeed 3 owner from New Zealand. My car is a JDM import so is a Mazdaspeed Axela (the JDM name of a Mazda 3). I joined up to get some info on the different things I need done with my car. I've already found some awesome information here, so I'm glad to be a part of the community. I'm a diesel mechanic apprentice so have a bit of mechanical knowledge but I know there are some BIG differences between diesel and petrol.

My 2007 Mazdaspeed 3, which I was given, was a barn find. It's been sitting for a couple of years out in the weather and needs a bit of love. But despite that, it's actually pretty tidy, especially on the inside. Aside from a few cosmetic things, it's completely stock, too, which means endless possibilities.

Things I know I need to get done are:
- Timing chain (rattling)
- Full service
- New tyres all around
- Needs a new key
- and needs to get re-registered to get back on the road.

From there, I want to get some easy bolt-ons to start. I want to keep it as a street car and a nice car to cruise on. I'm not planning on chasing numbers on a dino... for now...

Looking forward to learning heaps from the community and maybe even making some new friends.

Congrats, and welcome. My wife and I will be visiting NZ in a few weeks!

These cars are pretty simple creatures when you have the stock turbo. Tune, intake, HPFP internals, maybe downpipe.

welcome to mso!
she's still DI so still similarities to diseal; injectors still need regular cleaning and so do intake valves, if you're in there for timing change I'd add that along with a hpfp cleaning and rebuild. some great threads on those in the how to section.
