Help! Purchasing Parts for High Mileage Engine

Hey All,
I just purchased some parts finally from Corksport. 3.5in intake, CBE, DP, AP V3, Fuel Internals, BOV, Turbo Inlet. My car is a 2011 Speed3, All Stock with 149K miles.

I called a shop to tune the car and he is worried about rod stretching/failure and would really reconsider modding the car with so many miles?

Do y'all agree? I still have time to cancel the order.
 
If compression test is good, and oil changes have been frequent, and VVT serviced then with a fresh set of plugs your engine should be fine.

Edit: yup agree with raider don't even use the cobb ots maps, if you want a cheap tune then get a freektune ots map, he'll do some log reviews for you and make sure it's working for your car.

Appreciate that y'all. After talking to Corksport they mentioned the same thing and they have a guy who they use that can help with tuning remotely. I'm taking the car up to Mazda to get the compression and cylinder leak test done. I'll have them check everything VVT and everything else as well.

Also, I didn't cancel the order :)
 
Update, I'm running 175 compression across and no cylinder leak. I do need to get VVT and some other basic stuff but we're good
 
i have 171k miles. virtual dyno has me at 410hp with decent weather. I would not trust a local shop unless they specialize in MZR. If your compression is good across all the cylinders, i would go for it. I also have a set of forged pistons, rods, bearings ready for when it gives up.

Cf 1.01? Stock fueling?

Why are you waiting for it to give up? Risk ruining the block when it gives up because you never know how she's going to blow
