[SOLVED] HPFP not running

Hello guys, this is my first post and also my first Mazdaspeed 3, I got a problem and i'm out of ideas; my HPFP is not running, I can't hear it, I checked the voltage from the connector to ECU and it reads 8 volts. My car is just running with the fuel pressure from the pump in tank. I connected the HPFP directly to the car battery and it ran good, with good pressure but found that it was leaking fuel out of the spill valve black plastic connector. It has upgrades fuel pump internals.

So you directly connected a solenoid to the battery? Why would you do that?

Time to buy a whole new pump.
 
Your spillvalve is fucked if it's leaking through the connector like that who knows how hosed it is. I'd start with that.
 
Also, I checked the spill valve connector for continuity to ECU and for short to ground and it's ok.

Unless you truly understand the implications of doing that, you really shouldn't do that. The car won't like to idle at 2k+ PSI rail pressure, the PRV won't like to be jammed open almost permanently, and I'm sure that the solenoid wasn't designed for 100% duty cycle. The leak might be *because* you ran it connected to the battery.

Screw it big time. But before that the pump wasn't running.
 
The pump is cam driven, so it was running it just wasn't making pressure (which honestly could be a hundred things and only one of those is the spill valve).

If the pump wasn't actually running, then either the internals were stuck (would not be affected by running the spill valve continuous like you were) or the cams weren't spinning.

I just run the HPFP directly to battery for like 3 seconds, Do you think I mess up my internals? Because right now i'm looking for a used HPFP and I was thinking to just swap internals with the ''new'' fuel pump. I'm afraid that putting another fuel pump it won't run like the one that I have right now, because just from one day to another it stops working.

I bought the car at an auction, when I got it, it was throwing out a lot of blue smoke, I checked the engine oil and it was far beyond the FULL mark, also it was black and thin. I remove 8 quarts of engine oil, put a cheap 5w30 one week to try to flush it, and then put 6 quarts of Rotella T6 5w40..
 
I found a used HPFP from a Cx7 turbo for 90$. Tomorrow I will install it on my car. I will install it stock first to see if it works and to see if it operates normally. If everythings alright I will swap internals from bad pump to good used pump (assuming my upgraded intenals are still in good shape)
 
Check your current pump internals for sticky after you remove them and let them dry a bit. Also post pictures of the pump you're currently using when you take it apart.

I ordered a used HPFP online but I got question, I did the timing chain work a month ago and took out the entire HPFP plus the housing that is connected to the cam lobe, I did not mark the position of the cam lobe with the HPFP, I search in the manual, on Mitchell on Demand, and over internet but can't find if the HPFP housing needs to be installed in a certain way (timed or synchronized), so i just installed on TDC, do you know anything about it?

I want you to really think about how timing/cams work and how your HPFP functions.
