As of last wednesday I've joined the dark side and bought an evo 8. It's a little bit modified...

It's a stock frame turbo kinda like a BNR. It uses a factory twinscroll turbine housing. It's not sold by CBRD anymore, it was supplied to them by Blouch who now directly sells their own product. It's pretty much Blouch's Dominator 2.0 XTR turbo, it flows 57lbs/min, ball bearing center housing. It's extremely responsive. I'm barely pushing it right now, only putting down around 400whp on E85. Some of the things I'd like to change this season are converting the car to speed density and moving from the manual boost controller to an ebcs to help gain control for when I decide to push power up a bit more.
 
Found the car has an upgraded front engine mount the other day. Good to know since I was going to order one. Making a shopping list for solid bushings for little things like the shifter and driveshaft and such.

Ideally I'd like to get the car as close to 2700lbs as I can while using all factory body panels and the factory gas tank. Right now the car sits around 2850lbs. Most of the weight reduction won't happen for another year as I need to finish paying for school but after that I'll be getting tubular subframes, a lighter driveshaft and a rear diff mustache bar delete. Still trying to figure out other good places I can shave weight from. If I get extra adventurous while the car is in storage for the winter I might go through the harnesses and takes out what wiring isn't being used.

Nah that's a 7 bolt DSM problem. Evos are relatively bulletproof minus the tcase and front diffs being weak as hell. Fortunately I've already got that covered.

Yea I'm probably going to keep the tune it has for road course/autox and get our tuner at work (JR tune) to do one for the street/strip. It's really crazy how much you can do with the stock ecu on this car. I really love on the fly timing and fueling changing.
 
Ordered the rear engine mount, trans mount and passenger side engine mount from Torque Solutions to compliment the front one. Interesting to see how upgraded mounts do on this car compared to the speed6. Doesn't seem like a common upgrade in the evo world.

Also ordered driveshaft carrier bushings for shits and giggles. More good news was finding Torque Solutions billet shifter base bushings and shifter cable bushings already on the car so I won't have to order those. Also found some upgraded rear trailing arm bushings while I was under the car.
