I've got an unlimited supply of 1/4" Al scrap that doesn't cost me anything. My prof doesn't have time to set this machine up so he doesn't mind however much material I use or what I make. If it works as is then sweet, if it doesn't then I'll go back to the drawing board.

That's doable. Getting the holes on the brace piece would be a challenge to make. Also would have to measure off my printed piece to see where I can actually fit bracing.

Almost done with the toolpathing. Then I've got the fun part of setting up the mill and figuring out fixturing.
 
Car is about done, just have some little things left to do. Decided to work through the night and went from an engine on a stand to in the car ready to run in a little over 12 hours. Got the dash back in and it's ready for some new gauges that I ordered. Unfortunately I had a bit of a mishap with getting the driver's side inner axle stub back in and the splines have been messed up pretty good by the circlip. Trying to source one local so I can have the car ready for this weekend to give it a shakedown.
 
Got the car all done last night. Couple small kinks but they all ironed out just fine. Car feels absolutely great. Oil pressure looks pretty good too. Since I couldn't squeeze in a better oil pan I think I'm just going to do track days on my street tires and monitor my oil pressure gauge like a hawk.

Yea. Technically it's anything that's hard enough to keep oil from returning to the right side of the sump. I'm also running amsoil dominator 15w50 oil. It's got a very high hths viscosity and a pretty good vi. The film strength of this oil should keep the engine safe during short starvation events should I run into that.

Hitting the strip next weekend to try and punch my way further into the 11s. Also hopefully going to gingerman raceway next week too.

Went for a little cruise today. Remembered to bring my gopro for once. Here's a little action of the shifter since I've had some people ask about it. Side note: the car is breaking up a bit, pretty sure the plugs are fouled.
 
Got my track exhaust made yesterday. Car is obnoxiously loud, definitely throwing the BR catback back on today. Funny thing is that the car picked up more vibes from the exhaust than the balance shaft delete and poly engine mounts combined. Over the winter I'll get my O2 housing modified with another bung so I don't have to remove my wideband every time I change exhausts.

Kind of starting to get slammed with school work but hopefully it won't slow things down too much. Still pursuing small little knick knack projects but most of them are still in the infancy/idea phase still.

Unfortunately it looks like I won't be making it out to anymore track days this year, some financial stuff has cut out money for anymore track days. Can't say I'm horribly disappointed (I am) since I'm still on the stock oil pan.

On that note I'm starting to compile a list of mini projects that have popped into my head, a couple of these I've already started and a couple I'll be starting soonish. None of them are large projects, they're things I'll be doing in my free time, I have other large projects in mind but most of those aren't going to happen until I've gotten more seat time with the car and/or have more disposable income.

Most of these I would like to have done and on the car by the time spring comes around, and with the rate I get things done an earlier start is better. Anyway I'd like to hear if you guys have any feedback/questions/ideas about any of it.


Projects:

- Master cylinder brace - still brainstorming this, have a couple ideas. Goal is to keep it as light and simple as possible

- Oil catch can - already started, figuring out the best place to plumb the can, still undecided on whether I'm going to vent the can or run it as an inline sealed can. Probably will take some testing to decide

- Ethanol sensor/readout - there's already a thread on this, I'm thinking I might try to make a frequency to voltage converter built into the arduino to be able to use the freefuel patch (flexfuel patch for stock ecu) so I'd never have to worry about switching maps again

- Cam sensor cover - already started, nothing fancy here, just looking to add some rice to the engine bay

- Ethanol sensor bracket - trying to find a convenient and clean solution to mount the ethanol content sensor in the engine bay

- Ethanol readout bracket - need to make a bracket/enclosure for the lcd that displays ethanol content. Going to put this where the driver's side HVAC vent is. Right now it's just a sheet of perforated metal so I think it'd be a fitting spot

- Brake duct guides - probably going to be the trickiest project since I want the guides to conform to the shape of the bumper. Thinking I'm going to laser scan the bumper and import the shape into my modeling software and tweak it from there
 
Dropped the car off this morning to get the alignment checked to make sure nothing has shifted in the past few months.

Printed off the bracket for the ethanol lcd readout. Fits perfect in the car, just need to order an lcd to get the hole dimensions and then I'll print off a final version and figure out where I'm going to mount the arduino.

Should be running the mill tomorrow time permitting to do a trial run for the cam sensor cover. Using acrylic first to make sure the toolpaths are safe and then moving to aluminum.

Decided that I was bored looking at the stock Kognition wing ends and decided I'm going to make something a bit more fancy/sharp/ricey. Came up with two different designs, going to print off both and see which one I like better (or decide that they both look dumb) and then get a pair cut out on a cnc plasma cutter.

You should make the wing ends more phallic looking. I can draw you up something with some crayons and cray paper when I get to work if you like?

Made my trial run yesterday for the cam sensor cover. Made it out of acrylic to avoid breaking any tooling in case I made a mistake somewhere. Turned out perfect, I'm just going to go back and try to find where I can simplify the toolpathing a bit to cut down on time. Hoping to get one made out of aluminum tomorrow.

Made the bracket to mount the catch can. Mounts up using a factory bolt hole putting the can right behind the driver's headlight and the raised sections are to interface with countersinks on the catch can to keep it positively located. Still debating hose routing but I think I'm going to put it inline of the front valve cover outlet and upgrade it to a 10an over the winter.

Picked up a 1.3 cable so I can finally change some things on the tune. Disabled some codes for the FPR solenoid and EGR to get rid of the CEL. Also turned on launch maps, builds about 20psi at 5700rpm which I'm pretty happy with. In the middle of converting the tune to speed density now. Have all the important stuff copied over, just need to get the VE tables squared away. Holding my breath that the weather for this weekend clears up so I can hit the strip one more time before putting the car away.

Also made a list of most of what I want to get done this winter:
- Reloom/remove wires
- Remove firewall insulation
- Port intake manifold
- Remove intake mani brace
- Clean/antiseize struts
- Powdercoat valve cover
- Make new splitter
- Install EGT gauge
- Reposition temp gauges
- Remove sprayer lines + misc brackets
- SD Al intake
- New wheel well liners/protect wires better
- Splitter rods
- Fresh drivetrain fluids
- Oil pan modification
- Port brake duct guides
- Refinish doors and floor

Got the ethanol readout panel made. Got all the arduino stuff in the mail yesterday. Should hopefully have it running next week. Just need to order the sensor, plumb it in and make a bracket to mount it.

Also started making a new sump for the oil pan yesterday. This is a bit more of a long term project but I'm hoping to have it done by the end of the year. Shouldn't be hard at all, I'm just a bit strapped on free time. Going to cut it all out in sheets with the laser cutter and have my buddy weld it all up.
