KW V3 Installed

Alright! Sorry about the LONG LONG delay! #babylife #NoTimeForCarStuff

So after several attempts at fixing the clunk. I've determined it is the driverside coilover that is defective. I decided that it was not the top nut fully tightening. Several local Nator Members and I tried to tighten retighten the top nut with the Cocksport Plates. Turns out, The coilover was giving a lot of slack in the middle (almost bending like) with and without load. I reached out via email to KW to see what we can do to replace it since I bought the coils back in April 2017. *Fingers Crossed* it's a free full exchange.

*Update*
So KW, a girl named Sarah Duran, finally reached out to me yesterday morning via email. She requested several information for me to provide. Name, Proof of Purchase, and ART Number. No response for roughly 4 hours. Not sure if she's THAT busy. (Still as of this morning no response from her.) I gave her a call roughly around 3pm CST. No answer, obviously. Left a voicemail. 530pm CST rolls by. Still nothing. I decide to call the Main Line and got transferred to tech support person, Jason. Jason was most helpful. Found everything I needed to get done before they can consider it for warranty(Tech Sheet, Proof of Purchase and Reason for Warranty). This all happened within maybe 10 mins on the phone with him. Later that evening I sent the email with all the requested info needed. Now I'm just waiting for him to respond back. Will update later.
 
*Update*
Guy named Phil Castro reached out to me with a RMA number and instructions. Phil stated that when it gets in house should be roughly 10-15 Business Days before RMA is inspected/serviced and ready to ship back out. Package was shipped out yesterday via UPS. Keeping eye out when it gets to Clovis, CA. Estimated date of arrival, Friday, 03/02/2018 , By End of Day. Will be posting more updates when necessary.
 
*Update*
Received a Update back from Phil yesterday via email. According to their "lab" it showed internal damage which is NOT a MANUFACTURE defect. Reasons determined possible are due to Manfunctioning Upper Bearing, Installed with Puneumatic Wrench, or Went Through a Severe Impact. Resulting in no warranty coverage. Asking to charge me $295 for the Rebuild plus Parts.
After reading the email, I immediately called Phil at KW. Right away he referred me back to the results the lab concluded on. I advised him of my situation at home with the baby and why it took me awhile to send the strut to them. Phil said, "I should've noticed the defect right away after putting it on, but because I drove around the block with it. It wrecked everything internally thus not being a manufacture defect." He stated he understood my situation but what he can do is reduce the rebuild to $135 and will send me a new bill with the price change. Which I was happy at least it wasn't $300. Sent it over, saw the email. Email stated $250. Turns out it wasn't for the whole rebuild with parts just the "rebuild" in other words labor. Called him back, advised Phil my understanding was $135 for the entire rebuild plus parts. He responded with, "New price is $135 for the rebuild and the rest was cost for the parts separately. I gave you the rebuild for the V1 cost versus the rebuild cost for the V3. That's the best I can do, otherwise we can ship it back to you as is." At this point clearly I was furious but I kept my cool and decided to just suck it up and pay for the $250 and never ever EVER EVERRRRRRRRR again deal with KW. You almost want to be a bitch to get your way because every bitch you see bitch people out always get their way.
My final thoughts are that they probably thought I was driving on the strut for 10+ months. I did advise him I had no chance to be driving my car due to my Newborn and with 4 month paternity leave, I was pretty much house ridden for 6 months straight with work at home capabilities. This is also not my daily car. I daily drive a shitbag 2003 Toyota Avalon and 2008 Scoobyru Impreza(for the winters).

Probably gonna end up selling these at the end of the summer and go back to my old BCs or something else. Pretty disappointed with KW as a company, honestly. When my old(used) BC Coils with 80k miles outlived the KWs with less than 1 mile that cost 2.3k pricetag regardless of with or without warranty. Makes me double think why people(myself included) would pay 2.3k to only see it work for 1/16th of lifespan of a BC Coil at 1k pricetag.

I am really sorry you had to go through this. Having to pay for a rebuild sucks, especially since one of their key selling points is a "lifetime warranty".

Not that it's of any consolation, but I have close to 30k miles on my v3's, of that about 8k on higher rate springs. So far no issues. Many others with these and the mazdaspeed coilovers have put a ton of miles with no issues.

It sucks, I think you just had a one in a million issue.

Obviously it's your decision, but I don't think it would be worth it to sell them. You would take a loss and eventhough you didn't have a problem with BC's, there are many more reported issues with them.
 
So... not to pour salt but I had an issue with my out of warranty coil from Megan and the responded within one hour and after a week of pictures and back and forth they are going to replace the shock for free. I am have been super happy with my megans for the price and they have been on the car for 40k. I will be making a post about them as a shout out for their quality customer service as I know a lot of people think they are cheap and no good.
 
@Mauro_Penguin Thanks! That's what I initially thought about the Lifetime Warranty. But clearly must mean only what they deemed "manufacture" issues. Which could almost be every issue that comes in they could just say "User Broke It." But I am happy that yours has been awesome compared to mine sack of crap. Now I'm worried about the Passenger side, just because. But probably not gonna sell it. Just speaking out of emotions LOL.

*New Update*
After sending payment, received a email back from Phil 10am CST saying, "thank you." I instantly responded back for a turnaround time. He finally responded back this morning 10am CST(24 hours later), copying and pasting the initial he emailed me talking about "Once they received the item to allow 24-48 hours before the RMA is entered into the lab blah blah blah(see attached)." I responded back instantly with, "But wasn't the RMA entered already and inspected already. Just needs to be rebuilt?" To my surprise, he responded right away... Interesting. His response was, "Sorry About that. It will be done tomorrow and ready to be shipped back out. Lab is working on it right now"(See attached.)

For being a company, I'm disappointed in how they handle their customer responses. Shows the lack of professionalism/attention to detail(aside from their warranty product :BangHead:) for a company that's international and not to mention "big" in the auto/track industry. I wonder what their turnover is for employees. *END RANT*

Sorry to be that guy who shows up to a thread 3 years late, but I want to be certain I'm doing this correctly. I want to go ahead and drill out just enough of the threaded part of the pillowball nut that I can fit a 9mm socket inside to tighten it down, correct? And should I try to squirt some moly grease between the "plates" of the camber plate? https://i.imgur.com/XQSagqx.jpg
 
Grease cant hurt.

I am not sure that your question about the drilling is an actual question?!

Drill it just big enough to get a thin socket in there but no more than that, assuming you have a thin socket to fit.
