Lazza's Blown KO4

Sooo, the day has finally come to part ways with the stock KO4 turbo.
Went for a spirited drive Saturday 22 April 2023 and all went well.
Come Sunday and my turbo starts to make a grinding noise when the boost comes on along with smoke out the exhaust at idle.
I can now smell the oil burning.
Knew this day would come as I had installed a banjo bolt and raised the idle at about 80 000 km all the while running a tune with about 20 pounds boost.
Now at 160 000 km / 100 000 miles the turbo is done.
Even knowing this day would come I wasn't prepared ( Funds wise)
Nevertheless I started to make some plans and to take some action to rectify the situation.
After about a week of driving on low throttle to avoid going into boost I decided to park the car .

25 April 2023 Ordered the Following:
1 New Original Coolant Reservoir - Old one was starting to leak slowly - coming from Japan 6-8 Weeks
2 New Original Bearingfront Struts and Bumperbounds - coming from Japan 6-8 Weeks
2 New Monroe Front Shocks - Original Mazda shocks were just too expensive
2 New Monroe Rear Shocks - Original Mazda shocks were just too expensive
1 Cobb 3 Port Boost Controller - Arrived today via UPS
1 Bosch 3 Bar Map Sensor from JBR - Accidently picked USPS instead of UPS so this item may take weeks or even months to get here - May have to order it again using UPS as time may be an issue.

Still to Order / Fabricate:
1 Pulsar PTX2871R Turbo (Sadly changed to PTX 2860 Gen 2) hopefully lasts ok.
1 Custom fabricated 3 inch intake with nice big K&N Filter
Custom tune from one of the known e-tuners

This whole saga introduced me to a local track car builder who will be doing all the wrenching as I am a bit ham fisted and some custom fabrication will be needed ie,3 inch Intake ,Turbo Inlet from exhaust manifold and Turbo to downpipe Outlet.

Wish me luck..nerves are shot .

Are the Monroe shocks made for the speed3? I went to get suspension for my car at tire discounters and I called Monroe directly and they told me over the phone they don't make anything for the mazdaspeed3, only for the regular 3. I'm not sure if there is any difference in the shocks between the 3 and speed3 in the first place though.

Thanks for the heads up guys, salesman took some time to find them on their system as they were apparently not listed along with their regular parts...
I will have to pay him a visit as the parts are ordered and paid for already.

All parts are busy being installed , excluding the 3 Bar Map as it has not arrived yet. (tuner is aware)
After scouring the net I had returned the specific Monroe shocks that the salesman had specified and supplied new Monroe part numbers sourced from their Australian and new Zealand sites .( these are firmer )
Unfortunately my turbo is not the 2871 but rather the 2860.... so it is probably going to be a rather small upgrade ( it's a long story)
Also doing the Damond EGR Delete, so now we will have a check engine light.
May just decide to either unplug or do the "switch" mod for SWAS. Again more lights.
First base tune has arrived and if all goes well we should be back on the road within this coming week.

VD graph 1st map revision.jpg Well this little turbo ( Pulsar PSR2860 Gen2 Dual Ball Bearing Turbocharger) is surprising me so far with it's smooth and gutsy performance at 5700ft elevation.
First Map revision received, so far so good!
VD results above, don't know how accurate it is , but it certainly feels a bunch better than the stock turbski.

Finally installed a SWAS Delete Switch, wired the switch on the dark blue wire.
Could probably have used any of the wires.
Works greatSWAS Delete Switch.jpg , no more ECU intervention when you want to have some fun in the corners.
