I may have more bad news.
I am trying to get this car registered from Washington to California. No big deal, Right? California requires me to have a verifier come see the car and make sure all the numbers match in order to register my car. The VIN that is stamped and plated on the body match fine. However I cant seem to find a VIN on the block. Even if I could find one, I doubt it would match since this is a new purchased block from mazda. Do our engines come with a matching VIN stamp on the block?
If not, no big deal.
If so, big deal. The verifier will then refer me to LAW enforcement so the police can verrify they the engine is not stolen (I have the original receipt). Then once I get Law certified then I will have to go to a referee where they will determine if the engine meets California SMOG regulations. So I get to build my car to be completly stock. Unfortunately the engine may not pass anyway as it has a Ported head, Wiseco pistons, Manley I beam Rods, ect, ect. If it passes, I get a sticker and we are good to go. If it fails im just going to part this thing out and buy myself a new longblock from mazda. Leave it stock and delete this thread.
I sure love living in California.
