Then it doesn't matter, You should be able to look down the veins and see the curvature. if there is any they should be "Swept Back", like the direction the slots are "supposed to go"
Cross thread it in and never take it out again? I'm not sure what helicoils are rated for in terms of thread strength. Maybe helicoil it so you can get to thread into the body? Are you kidding me? How the hell do you even screw up these threads? Extreme carelessness, or not giving a shit? Anyone have any ideas how I should go about fixing this? Are Helicoils okay for this type of job? I am dumbfounded.

If that's for the RMM you could slightly drill that out and get away with just having a bit of blue loctite on the good threads past the bad with maybe a slightly longer bolt.

crapatalk it sucks for free
I'd try clean it up with a tap see if you can salvage it, then new bolts with locktite, is that for the RMM?
Helicoil it. Helicoils are stronger than aluminum threads.

Good to know, thanks man! I Guess I'll have to wait another week to get this thing mounted. Will be my first HeliCoil experience. Do you know what size kit I will need, I think these bolts are a M14 1.5 pitch?

I don't know what the thread size is for that bolt but that will determine what kit you'll need. Usually the kit will tell you what size you need to make the hole, if not it's easy to find on the interwebs. Helicoils are pretty simple, just take your time and make sure you keep it perpendicular.
