Maisonvi's never ending build

Glad to hear you are okay, I loved following this build thread.

Sorry to see all that hard work and money go up in smoke...

Holy shit dude!!!!

Glad you made it out ok, for the most part anyway. Hopefully your burns aren't too bad.

Remember, it's a car, and it's just money. You learned more about yourself and this platform by wrenching, and you could have spend the money on worse things like heroin or gambling in the Vietnam jungle with a gun pointed to your head.

This is just an excuse to get something faster.

On a dark comedy note, that is a nice pic of you fleeing the fireball. Frame that pic at home!

Yeah, its a pretty awesome pic. Sucks to have it all go, but I will build something new. My wife is really getting behind the idea of an Exocet. She wants to start driving too I think.

It's probably damn near impossible to determine with that much damage, but could it have been a fuel leak?

Sorry for the loss. I’m glad you’re okay, that’s the most important part. And, who knows, maybe you’ll end up in another speed if you’re feeling it.

Originally I thought brake fluid because right before the fire I lost them in a turn. Pedal to the floor. But the more I look at pics I wonder if it was fuel.

In the end it's so roached there is no easy way to tell

Yeah, that one isnt getting rebuilt. The thought of another is on my mind. Hard to leave a game Ive been in so long. But the allure of something new is fun too. We will see, gonna take it all apart Sunday.

if you want something new just buy a PU!

the appeal this time is that you would know exactly what you wanted to do and would be able to methodically get it built right the first time.

with the amount of shit you would be changing anyway you could probably get away with buying a standard 3 and "upgrading it to MS3+ specs

Well the wife gave me the new rule that I can no longer have a DD/track car. they need to be separate. So Im planning to build an Exocet and then get something to DD. The DD is undecided at this point but I know a few things.
1. Needs to be 4 doors for the kid(s)
2. Fun to drive like a speed is
3. Is not a Pu.

Really I have a few ideas bouncing around. Another Gen 1 would be the cheapest. Get it to 350ish hp and call it good for the next 5-10 years. Would need to find a clean one though.

I love the idea of an RS, but thats a bit more than I think I want to spend. Ideas of bigger v8 cars are a possibility, Not ruling anything out at this point, but Im not getting anything till I get the 2 broken speeds out of my drive.

If you're getting a dedicated track car my vote goes for an E36 or E46. Pretty quick, fairly cheap, reliable, great cars to learn with and there's plenty of aftermarket support.

Check out miataturbo.net. There is usually some pretty good deals on miatas in the for sale section; everything from stock to fully prepped track car.
