Maisonvi's never ending build

I feel like any na or nb Miata is going to be old enough that a ton of little shit is going to break anyway so I would be looking at cheaper ones. Racecars don't care about dull paint and small dents

Yeah Im looking at cheaper ones for sure. Just something that is track day ready is all I care about. Suspension, roll bar, brakes, all need to be done. I dont have time right now to deal with prepping a car. If I have to do that I will wait till winter.

ahh the price makes more sense knowing that it is ready to go. I thought you were looking at stock starter cars for that price and thought you were crazy.

I feel like the drivetrain on the NC is heavier duty than the NA/NB if you think you will be looking for more power down the line.

Yeah with work being like 50 hours a week, doing side work as well, a kid and just a busy summer, I wont have time for a project. That and I have 3 other cars and a non running motorcycle that need attention. I just want an out of the box race car.

Im not against an NC, but they just tend to be a bit more expensive for the ones Im looking at.

Last time I was looking at NCs (a couple years ago) the NC1 (05-08) was considerably cheaper than the NC2 (09+).

Yeah, just putting out feelers now for whats out there. A lot more done up NB and NA. One NA I got offered is like sub 2k lbs which is just crazy haha. Granted thats like 100hp car at best.

Yea the number of track prepped NAs is a good amount larger than NBs and FAR exceeds NCs. The NB does have more favorable suspension geometry over the NA and lots of guys swap NB subframes, knuckles and control arms with r package tie rod ends into their cars.

Well, it looks like I should change the title of this thread. I found the end.

As many of you know, I was at the track a week ago when my car caught fire. Did everything I could to save it, but it was no hope. I got out ok, and just have a few burns on my arms, but it could have been way way worse. (a spectator did get a sweet pic of me getting out of the car)

Sucks seeing so much hard work literally go up in smoke. The time and money I have put into this car made me feel like it was a part of me, so letting her go has been rough. I just keep telling myself at least I didnt die, and that has helped me rationalize the loss.

This weekend Im going to go thought the unfun task of seeing whats left that is saveable. Im doubting its much, but I want to try. I at least got my shift knob out of it. I will keep that as a keep sake for a long time.

Below are a few pics of the damage, and the fire. I want to thank everyone who has helped me though the years. I will still be around here to try and make sure Im helping where I can. This community has been great for the most part, and I want to stay apart of it.

As for what is next, Im not sure. For now Im just going to drive my jeep and see what I can find when I save up the money to buy something new. Might be a bit, maybe I wont be able to wait, we will see.
