ms3 needs motor

whats up community. new to the mazda scene but not to the custom imports. picked up a 08 speed3 rolling chassis. like many others the motor suffered a rod through the side and was taken out and junked by previous owner. so i have a car with no motor. i have looked at the options of getting a ebay motor from a jdm dealer but with past experinces not working out so well i would rather stat local. i found a well maintaind 08 cx-7 motor with 100k and was hoping with a few mods it would slide right in the ms3. i have searched and searched and i cant seem to find a topic or a how to on this. im sure its out there but im just not looking in the right places. any chance someone can point me in the right direction
 
ok so with a little help from a few members i have learned that a cx-7 motor will be a good fit as long as its the AWD version. the FWD is N/A and not gonna be the ideal engine. ill also need the accessories for the motor that are for the speed 3 ie alt, ps, ac compressor. now i just got to find one. thought about getting a remaned long block but im still trying to keep a 4k budget. stay tuned
 
I can ask my parts department which company they use for used engines. I got mine that way and it wasnt too bad. The motor actually came with a Damond PCV plate, egr delete and upgraded HPFP

Correction,
All cx7 that came with 2.3 turbo is the same exact block as the 1st gen speeds. no modification required. its gonna drop in,
although the turbo is just a bit smaller AFAIR, and you will need to use your speed alternator. every other accessories and even the intercooler is the same. AWD vs FWD main difference is the bell housing for the transmission and not in engine, all block for cx7 and speeds all have mounting bolts for AWD hardware.

Dont have to trust me, but I dropped in a 2008 cx7 engine to a 2012 speed3, and since im lazy I left the turbo and alternator, never had problems till I sold it, although I did the spin on conversion and starter.
 
It's true. BUT, do not be a dumbass. Take off the valve cover. Those things get sludged up because the owners ran em 10k between oil changes and I see em looking like axle bearing grease is packed all up in there. Get thd block, New vvt and timing chain and move on up.
