My Maisonvi knob

I requested a somewhat unique knob from Ken.

I've owned metal knobs in the past and hated how hot they got in the sun and how cold they were in the winter. Ken said he has done like plasticy derlin material before, but I still wanted to be different. So I asked about wood.

Ken had a block of maple which was fine by me. I know it's obviously lighter than steel, and probably lighter than derlin. But it still has a nice weight to it imo. I don't think it's too light. If you want a heavy knob you'll be disappointed though. It's probably about the same as stock, maybe lighter. Idk.

I've had it in freezing temps, as well as in my car all day when it's 90+ and its always fine to touch. The wood looks great (maybe a little out of place considering this is a mazdaspeed, but the craftsmanship and finish are great. Looks like the grain in my maple drums) and feels great. It isn't showing signs of wear either.

Well that is just sexy. Fun one to make, more work than I expected, but I have a better idea what to do now.

Is that a mango smoothie in the cup holder?

Just need to drink some scotch while driving with your wood shifter in a T-shirt with a tuxedo print on it. Totally classy.

While listening to the fine works of Beethoven.

If you can get me the wood and the design you want, I can make it happen.

Ken, if you could find a chunk of Flamed Koa to make a knob out of I would be inclined to pay fairly handsomely for it. Or hell, I could even try and source a piece.

Really?? Well let me ask my co worker where he sourced it. Only place the wood comes from is Africa (duh).

If either of you guys can get me the material Im for sure willing to try. I will say wood in not a medium I often work in, so Im kinda winging it here based on the one knob I have made.
