New to versatuner

So I bought versatuner about a week ago. Been spending the past week doing research to try and get an understanding of what to be looking at when creating my own tune and I just can't figure out how to actually run the software correctly I guess. I am currently tuned by dramatuned and I am trying to create a tune that feels similar to what my car is like with the dramatuned map installed. I have done a lot of research and will understand what anyone has to say to help me get an actual understanding of what to do and what to look out for. If anyone is willing to help me learn this software it would be greatly appreciated as for I am trying to get ready for import face-off this year as well as my local mazda takeover meet happening in June. Any input/advice is extremely appreciated.

Mods include:
Corksport hpfp internals
Xs catless downpipe (straightpiped)
Injen CAI
Turbosmart kompact bpv
Ngk 1step colder plugs gapped at .25
Cobb rmm

Soon to be mods:
Egr delete
Pcv delete
Vtcs delete
Coolant bypass
Jbr Passenger mount
Jbr trans mount

Everything has to be done for mazda takeover in June. Want to create my own custom tune on current set up just so I can get a hang of how to use the software correctly. Have all the parts but haven't started installing them yet due to lack of knowledge of the versatuner software as well as not being very computer savvy all help is very appreciated.

Pic of my speed 3 as well as a 3rd and 4th gear logs for you to see the numbers running dramatuned map. Hope it helps

Why did you switch to VT when you already have an AP?
Well my ap broke. It came with the car and I wanted to learn how to do the tuning myself so I just found it easier to go with VT cause they actually respond to me. Cobb never responded back to any of my emails I sent them

Almost like we have a thread for that

Check out the tuning section

Edit: also screw trying to make your car feel like drama tune's shit tunes you want something better. Now I don't self tune I can only help point you to some threads.
Thank you and it's not that I wanna mimic dramatuned, I may have worded it wrong but I like the feel of what he did and I'm just trying to figure out what he focused on to get it where it is now. Thank you for the links though it's much appreciated

Purple drank is an excellent choice, I believe freektune will also tune versa tune and that's another excellent option I can personally speak to how great freektunes tunes are.

With a MS 3 you have more choices than I do.

I found it frustrating trying to find someone who would tune a CX7. With Erics help I contacted everyone he listed. Sadly, only PD tuning responded to my emails and calls. The rest did not bother to respond to my emails or phone calls. Which I see as unprofessional. I get that the CX7 is a kind of the odd step child of the Speed world. But, they could have at least acknowledged my email or phone call and just said they do not do CX7 tuning.

I cannot say enough about how PD tuning responded and handled my tuning. I am sure the others would react differently if you have a MS 3/6 instead of a CX7.

So I only have experience with PD tuning.

I emailed pd a couple weeks ago I assumed they are just busy but I still haven't heard back from them. I've been wanting to send another email but I don't want to be a bother. If emailed them all and I have 3 different tuning guides to learn from but it's the numbers that are getting me lol I'm having a hard time with figuring out what to do with the numbers. And I'm also lost on how to even start my business and debating on if I want to stay in the boise idaho area, I'm all in this alone and I'm trying to make this a dream come true. Just have no help and no one I associate with don't seem to be interested. Maybe I should just try and join a local shops team or something? Idk sorry about the rambling just need some outside opinions on how I should go about this cause I have no clue what I'm doing

I didn't even emall Drank. I bought the tune and then communicated power goals and such. 2nd revision in and it's amazingly smooth. I know enough to let the ones who have tuned many many many Mazdaspeeds rather than blow my stuff up.

@Jordan hopwood are you trying to become an actual tuner? Is that the goal? There's online tuning courses out there and some of them are even required to be a Cobb Tuner if you're looking to get into it as a business I'd recommend starting to take some of those courses

I found you have to fill out their form for a tune on their web site. But they did respond to my email telling me to do exactly that and that I had to have my HP fuel pump upgraded (bought the internals from them) and install new plugs that were colder than the ones I had before they could start the tuning process.

My car is running smoother than it ever did. I had 9 tunes before they got it to where it is max for my Gas around here.
I am old school, I built my drag car back in the early 80s. But then it was carbs, needles, jets, power valves, Distributer weights/springs, timing. I decided to just let someone who knows where the limits are to do a tune for me.
Just a note that why I started working on the ending is due to the nanny software almost getting me killed when a driver ran a light and I floored my car to get out of his way and it just did not go.
My first car with all this nanny ware. I hate it.
Versa Tuner allowed me to at least turn off the Nanny Ware which was nice.

If youre asking them to tell you how to self tune, I doubt they're ever going to reply to be honest.

Those of us who do self tune have done the research on our own.

I will say, Will at PD has been very helpful to me along my self tuning journey. But he also has known who I am for years and and watched me pushed my stock engine further than most would feel comfortable before he ever offered any tips/tricks.

This is their livelihood too, competition is good. But all the big names started the same though. Tuning themselves, then tuning others at no cost to make a name for themselves and proving themselves back in 2009-2012 before they could start really charging people and becoming their own business. It wouldn't be their obligation to tell you the secrets of their trade
