[SOLVED] No power, enters limp mode on acceleration

In extreme cases exhaust back pressure can can bad enough reversion to be an actual problem. Hopefully this fixes it!
Sorry man I don’t get this, do you mind re wording it?

If this were me, I'd disassemble all couplers between intake mani and air filter, inspect each one, check the intake mani for potential gasket issues, etc.
Hi enki, I disassembled the intake system today except for the manifold, nothing is cracked or teared, I made sure to tighten everything back up and the problem is still there. I also checked shaft play while I was there and it’s still very minimal. There was some oil in the intercooler pipes tho
I took some pictures of the intake as well3E8C4B9D-B19D-4253-A01C-2C2063A28408.jpeg955A1D14-E116-48A9-B865-13115EFB7E42.jpeg

It would be highly unusual (in my mind) for a clogged cat to cause a lean condition, but I've been wrong before. Let us know if changing the DP fixes this.

If you wanted a quick fix you could remove the stock downpipe and use a long steel bar or something to knock a hole in the ceramic converter; I'd recommend wearing respiratory gear to do this (outside) though. You don't want to breathe that dust.

Ive thought about this, im not sure what to do, i can get a cpe catted Downpipe and a tune for 1500$ and the be done with it. Does gutting the cat have any negatives?

You're fine, I'm just saying that when the exhaust can't get out it pushes its way back into the engine basically which can cause bad issues obviously. Thy call it "reversion" into the engine.
okay yeah i read about that, I think that could be why it runs lean only when I accelerate a little too quickly.
I think im going to pull the trigger and get a downpipe and tune from ots, gonna hurt the wallet but speed 3 life ig

Actual "reversion" results in carbon deposits from exhaust getting past the intake valves. Mostly normal on (small/factory) turbo cars, depending on a bunch of factors. Pretty rare on supercharged engines, for example.

Gutting the cat will result in a CEL, but that's likely to happen with an aftermarket downpipe anyways. Should be unlikely with a catted downpipe, but still has potential to happen.

Just ordered CPE catted DP and freektune revision, i hope it sounds cool at least lol

You will have a deeper muffled sounding exhaust from the cat being there. Does the downpipe replace both cats or just the first? If it doesn't replace the second one you would want to replace that as well or put a race pipe in there instead

Short vs long downpipe.

Its a long downpipe with one cat, Im wondering if I should put some sort of heat coating paint on it?

No I definitely would just leave it the way it is. If it is pretty thick metal then wrapping it would be good but my first catless dp was cheap and the wrap held in so much heat it cracked everywhere. It really doesn't make that much of a difference to sacrifice the dp life lol

Wrapping is for racecars. Doing this on the daily will shorten the life of the downpipe (water retention, etc).

Okay good to know, ill let you guys know if the downpipe fixes the issue.

Also sidenote today i forced it to see what would happen and I made almost 6lbs of boost but it sounds like its choked up.

Honestly man I have heard of guys boosting it to blow that crap out lol

Would you think it will make more than 6psi? If you put enough pressure on it you could very well blow that stuff out that is stopping it up lol

maybe I could but I don't really want to risk anything, also the new downpipe is sitting in my room lol im going to try and get it installed tomorrow

Got the Downpipe installed today, took about 5 hours to do
didnt Solve the issue however I guess now that I’ve spent some good money on it the speed decided to give me a hint and finally threw on a new engine code for vtcs stuck closed so I’ll be looking into that tmr super disappointing

Heres some pics tho it sounds pretty good at least and my turbo doesn’t seem to be leaking oil

Well sorry that wasn't the problem but you will be glad you got the dp eventually for sure. It is the best bang for your buck on a speed pretty much. It will probably gain you 20hp at the least.

Vtcs is deleted in my car and it has had ZERO negative effect on my car. I cold start my car in sub 10 degree weather and it doesn't do rough starts. Improves flow on your intake manifold and isn't difficult really. Takes about a day to do it and then you don't have to worry about it anymore. If you cant have a CEL though idk if it would be an issue or not.

Vtcs tumbles air through your intake manifold at low rpm (idle basically) so it being shut would definitely not let hardly any air into your engine and makes sense. Get that baby fixed and post a boost video! Lol

if you remove the vtcs, keep the black box plugged in to avoid a cel.
So you're saying pull the manifold, remove the flappers and take the rod out but them keep the little actuator on the side of the manifold and keep it plugged in? Makes sense.
