P0016 code on fsbo car

Hi all, after searching for a bit, I found two ms6's locally this week and hope to look at both this weekend. One reportedly has a P0016 cam sensor code after a recent professional engine rebuild, but runs normally. It's a stock car.

I'd like to know what the common causes ot this code are and what I should look at as a buyer to evaluate the engine for potential issues?

The other has been slightly warmed over and has a custom tune and a couple of bolt ons. What should I look for to be sure the engine hasn't been hurt by overzealous tuning?

Thanks

Have you looked for threads going over the p0016 code? because We have a few...

We also have a thread specially for what to look for when buying a used speed

I'd also ask who the tuner was, if it's dramatune walk away, hope this helps answer some of your questions

Edit: in this case I'd also 100% want a compression test perhaps even a leak down test depending on how it runs and what the compression test reveals

Thanks for the response. I did a quick search but wasn't finding anything too specific (what I get for end of the day research on my phone).

I have a compression tester. What s typical for a good running engine?

This is all from my phone....

This will bring up a few threads where many people have given specs...look at search terms to narrow into a forum search ;)

as per the shop manual; Compression

psi} [250 rpm]
