Rest in Peace, Mike Shaw aka VIP.

I don't like doing this. My friend Mike Shaw, who has not really been active here, but is well known in Nator and Dragon Camp, has cancer. It's in his leg, spread to lungs and spine. Stage 4. Chemo and radiation on tap, he's unable to work, is on COBRA health care, and is struggling as his wife is the breadwinner as a teacher. They have a baby and a daughter too.

Things have taken a turn, and he's recovering from a fall, broken pelvis, double pneumonia, and a blood clot. Prognosis is not good, just a rough time

Thank you @Slow_MS3 and @andrew for upgrading your membership he's leaving rehab next week and, meeting the #1 sarcoma cancer specialists in Murrica on the 20th to hopefully get a special chemo to knock down the 20 lb cancer in his leg. Keep thoughts with him.

After 34 days, my buddy Micheal is HOME! Awesome gift for Kathleen Mary on her birthday! He's fighting stage 4 sarcoma like a badass. Mayo clinic and a trial program is in the works! Long fight ahead, keep in in your thoughts!

Also keep thoughts with Kathleen's dad, who is in the hospital now too fighting heart issues.

Huge thank you to Dan and David Hodges (owners of Hodges Mazda at the Avenues) , who Mike worked for up until last year. They are securing a wheelchair prepped van for him to use as long as he needs it. This is HUGE!

Well it's been a rough week. Tuesday, I delivered a wheelchair van to Mike at his house. The owners of my dealer bought it for him to use, then return when done. The next day was going to be me taking him to Mayo, to discuss his pending treatment and pain management.

Unfortunately, he took an ambulance there when he fell early in the morning. Intense pain had him in the ER on piles of meds. I saw him in his room the next morning, a lot better. Need to get pain stabilized, and treatment started. It's a long road ahead. The cancer is, spreading and he's in the fight for his life.

I'll be keeping up with member upgrades going to Mike indefinitely. I only have $20 to give them now, hoping to get more upgrades in the coming weeks, as MSO celebrities 4 years!

An update on Mike. Last week, he got his pain under control, and, got up, unassisted for the first time in many weeks. Next day, end of the hall and back. This week, pain increased and something triggered more back pain. MRIs yesterday and, today on his spine are being performed, and we are hoping for some news that is positive. The surgery to remove the sarcoma on his leg was planned for the week, but is now canceled for now.

His family has asked for some help covering the expenses of a stage 4 cancer battle. I'm hoping many more will renew Metal Membership with mazdaspeeds.org as 100% of the donations are going to Mike and his family.

Got to see Mike tonight. It's a tough time right now, a roller coaster of prognosis and test results that change regularly. Words cannot describe how it feels to have everyone's support. Sarcoma sucks. Cancer sucks.

The gofundme was updated to reflect the current needs since the cancer has spread. "Mike is currently at the Mayo Clinic receiving palliative radiation on his leg as doctors are desperately working to control his pain. The cancer has unfortunately spread throughout his entire spine. We are still hoping and praying that he can participate in a clinical trial at Mayo. We are incredibly grateful for your love and support through this incredibly difficult time."

Bonus is, they may be on the news! I'll share more later. Keep him and his family in your thoughts, as he's undergoing radiation on the cancer in his leg.

OK, so some big awesome news! Literally...

Mike and his fiancé were facing issues getting married. To get a license, they had to both be there. Mike is in the hospital. So no go. I emailed our mayor. Big town, but I have his email. Next day, a call. Exception and rules. Shared to Mike and Kathleen, and they are getting married tomorrow! Today, local news texted me for more info, like gofundme and their info. They are gonna on the news, video is posted!
