Shifter Cable Woes

An update, had the package overnighted to me & the part was the correct one this time. Went through a rough time properly getting the new one installed & getting the old one removed. Apparently Mazda decided it was a bright idea to place a bracket against the firewall right where the turbo is located. The nut was basically stuck there from the constant heat it receives from the turbo. At one point I said screw it & sprayed Liquid Wrench in the area to get the nut off. Drove the car & the shifting feels better than it did before the whole problem with shifting. The old cable had its years of use that I'm sure it must have stretched out over all of the time. I'm glad it wasn't something else causing the shifting problem.

Edit: Mods please close thread. @NavysailorMS3

Apologies for necromancing this thread but going through the same thing right now. Edge sent the shift cables to me which are the right part by part number but is definitely missing the rubber mount. Their Mazda rep says the rubber mount is no longer included on the new design. I think I'm going to cut the mount off the old one and zip tie the cables and the mount to the post.
