Shifter Seized in 1st Gear

You should be able to shift OUT of gear anytime, whether the clutch is disengaged or not. With the engine off you should also be able to shift INTO any gear pretty easily without pressing on the clutch.

Like @5doorsoffury said, disconnect the shifter cable linkages at the trans, and see if you can shift in and out of gear easily. Also see if the shifter in the car moves freely - it should flop around like a pornstar's dick pre-Viagra.

Did the builder crack open the transmission at all?

I have no idea. I figured if they discovered something they'd let me know. They've been radio silent ever since they picked it up. Last discussion he thought there was something in the hydraulic lines, or a damaged/faulty line. He was confident there was nothing wrong with the clutch install because it worked (for a while).

3rd slave blew. They're overnighting a 4th. Said they replaced pretty much all the clutch hydraulic hardware. I'm still skeptical about that theory. I think it's inside the transmission.

Hey man, **IF** the trans is cooked (I seriously, seriously doubt it), I`ve got a Pu tranny in the garage that needs a $28 part and about an hour of time to fix. I`ll GIVE it to you if you end up needing it. Order the part, bring it over and we can put it together. Then you`ll have a tranny for $28. Then you`d just have to talk the shop into swapping it out. Again, I have serious doubts it`s the tranny but there`s a life preserver if worse comes to worst.

$28 dolla? It isn't just $28 dolla, it's$28 dolla and a handy. Don't sell it short.

crapatalk it sucks for free

If he doesn`t need it I`ll fix it myself and put it up for sale for $350 or so, but the dude has been through some shit with his build. This trans is just sitting in my garage so if I can help out in a crunch (you know, more than offering up my builder motor at so far no charge LOL).

I don't think it's inside the transmission, I think it's the clutch. I read about pressure plate or throw out bearing issues with aftermarket clutches that can exert too much pressure on the stock slave cylinders. Blowing slaves is indicative of other issues.
[doublepost=1498098270][/doublepost]Builder said they've had it back together since yesterday. He put highway miles on it, and he's going to put a bit more on tonight and tomorrow. He said $100 will split the cost of the work/parts. Crossing my fingers and hoping replacing the lines and a 4th slave fixes the problem but only time will tell. This has been a rough break in for the vehicle.

Car is in hand after he had it for about a week driving it city and highway. I have about 500 miles left before tuning.
