Yea i imagine having fwd presents a lot of problems with your turbo. Ill bet those throttle table adjustments make a huge difference in city driving. How does it feel with your clutch tho. I had to sharpen up my throttle tables and make the throttle response a little snappier, even with a lighter single mass, to get the studder after low speed/rpm shifting to go away. It also made rev matching downshifts much smoother. I love ceramic clutches break-in but the kevlar clutch was buttery smooth, just like stock.

Before, with the full 3" cold side, stock TB and stock ported mani, city driving sucked. I'm assuming the turbulence from going down from 3" to 2.5",then into a restrictive opening in the manifold and a restrictive manifold made it a chore to drive in traffic (I looked like a noob driving manual with the car lunging and jerking) and the car didn't like being below 2500rpm.

Haven't driven in traffic yet with the CS TB, but with no other changes; low rpm is much smoother and responsive. Smoothness between shifts is good and Rev matching on downshift doesn't take as big a blip on the throttle as it used to.

The only issues I really have from the initial experience is rpm hanging at 1500+ when going out of gear to a stop (which really doesn't bother me), And engine braking...as soon as the throttle closes the car jerks pretty bad (but only once).

As discussed previously, it could be I need to tinker with the springs in my BOV, it could be a tuning adjustment needs made in the dfco tables if I decide to ditch Cobb and go VT, it could be because I'm on a super restricted manifold, or it's just something I have to deal with because of full 3" piping. We shall see

Regarding driving with a 6 puck, I have one in both my speed and my mz3(lol). Other than the throttle response being total garbage in the mz3 (meaning it takes more throttle input on the pedal itself for the revs to go up), I don't really change the way I drive. It's been so long since I've driven on a normal clutch Idk what that experience is like anymore lol

I remember when i bought mine with the 11 psi spring that is tan or yellow and didnt come with other spring rates like my wastegate did. I got the 11 psi because it corresponded to my engine idle vacuum. Maybe if this tb raises or lowers your vacuum you very vell may need a different spring.

I remember when i bought mine i bought the 11 lb spring that is tan or yellow and didnt come with other spring rates like my wastegate did. I got the 11 lb because it corresponded to my engine idle vacuum. Maybe if this tb raises or lowers your vacuum you very vell may need a different spring.

No idea what spring is in it now. I'll have to check and see if I still have the other springs or if I need to order them. I also need to find a mechanical boost gauge or something, my map sensors largest minimum value that displays on the AP is -8.98psi, but I know it's pulling more vacuum than that.

Jus go to your local autoparts store and pick you up a vacuum gauge for 10 bucks. Helps a ton when dialing in your map scalars. Although if you are on a 4 bar then i feel your pain, you wont be reading right in vacuum. Thats why i dropped down to a 3.5bar

I see what he means. I just opened VT and I see the tables he is referring to. That could possibly work. Try the bypass valve spring though for real. I saw what bypass valve you are using in your signature. That is why I recommended trying a different spring. Did you ever try using a lighter one? Did you have flutter issues?

It works, I did it on my car and a couple other 75mm TB cars with success, via Mazda Edit. Beyond me why Cobb never release the tables, but hey, they kept a ton unreleased, so it is what it is.

The BOV thing is a moot point on this too. The issue is fuel cutting before you're even into vacuum. I ran through about 100 logs on multiple cars to get it all right back in the day. The good news is, you can learn to drive around it most of the time and the benefits of having the bigger TB are fantastic at this level, so still worth it.

Found a single runner jmf that's powder coated black and has never been installed. I'll be making a trip to Pittsburgh next month to pick it up since I know the guy. Looking forward to swapping everything over and getting this show on the road!

So, took the car out for a spin Saturday. Wasn't warm enough to hook 4th gear, but I got a log. My maf is scaled quite a bit for aux fuel, so I can't give you a g/s increase from the CS TB itself, but you can see how lean I went in the 4-5krpm range.

Tune will Def need adjustment once I get the jmf on

Shiiiit, I had to go back and look at my old logs to see how close i got and i was at 4.5v at 30psi. We are both going to need some whale penis in our lives. I wish jbr made a 4" maf housing so i could make my own intake...

It was 41° outside, but I figured I'd try logging again with the CS TB on the stock manifold.

Its not hitting boost targets down low due to IAT being below 68°. But you can see how much air this thing is flowing in the mid range where it goes lean to ~13.4 AFR and how high my maf voltage is up top. Time for a 4" intake !

Wow i guess you kind of need that for the lower gears. No plans to go port inj huh, the mani looks really nice. Cant wait to see what your tuner can do with the tb now.

is that the 75mm inlet on the jmf? if not while it's off the car find someone to make it or else that will become your next restriction. just a thought

sent jmf an email yesterday as im in the same spot with mine.they said the run the same size piping on a 60mm and a 75mm only difference being the flange. they can send you it for 70 or so shipped or can most likey bore is to a 72/75mm
