Hey guys.

So as most of you know, the ms6 with its new sleeved motor died at 2700 miles in.

Machine shop basically said to fuck off. So I was at a cross roads.

Michelle gave me an ultimatum:
-the ms6 either sits in the back yard until we're married, have our first kid and have a new house
-or sell it and get something you can drive now.

With us not having a garage, I didn't want the car rotting in our back yard for the next 3-5 years...so...
The ms6 is gone and I picked up a 2013 MS3 w/ tech package in wonderful Mazda Velocity Red Mica to use as a 2nd vehicle in addition to my 2010 Mz3 sedan beater

I knew the original owner, and have a good idea of most of the history of the car.

Original owner is an older gentleman that traveled for work. So most of the mileage is highway, and the car was meticulously maintained by him.

When the stock k04 blew in 2016, he got a bnr s4v1, cs hpfp internals, cobb catted Downpipe, CS catback, bosch 3 bar map sensor, htp 3.5" intake and a TR8L FMIC with cx racing piping, CS Carbon hood scoop, CS coilovers and a whiteline rsb. Installed it all at once and had it tuned on 93.

He traded it in to a mazda dealer for a ND miata in 2019 and it was sold at auction. A new owner picked it up, replaced the clutch and forgot to put gear oil in the transmission after draining it during the clutch job.

That puts it where I got it.

Compression test with 188k miles read 170 across the board, with less than 5% leakdown on each cyl.

So I had a Gen 2 gearset laying around that I was gonna put in my 6. So that came in handy as well as an ACT 6 puck with a streetlite flywheel.

Plan for the foreseeable future is to just see how many miles I can get out of it and make it last as long as possible until it's time for another build in a few years.

Come spring when it's due for next oil change, I'll be switching it over to tribodyn 5w30 dexos formula and get a UOA done for science purposes. I'll keep y'all posted with any updates

Sounds like a great choice!
Partner happy, and a new to you ride with copious history!
Your description "a older gentleman" ha!
Sounds surprisingly like my son using option to buy my gen1.
I have a 6 sitting in yard and using for parts. Nice and handy but apparently the longer it sits the more parts (and labor) before I make a decision on keep or sell.
Happy miles!

Sorry to see the 6 go but understandable, glad you're still in a speed. Guess the next question is when's the wedding?

Happy to hear man! And beautiful car.

Same situation for me. When the 2nd built motor spun a bearing at 2500 miles or less, I knew the wife was already at her end with my little hobby/"passion" carried into our marriage. Not to mention having a child together and the speed being our 2nd car. The day the 2nd motor went out, i called her and said "i bought an 02 purple Camry with only 72k miles, don't worry hun". She's happy, and i got to continue on with building the 3rd motor myself. Happy to report this motor is almost at 7k miles now.

Hey all. Been a while. Not much to report. Mileage is at 199,xxx and still running strong.

The slave cylinder blew in April, which was expected as the car has a newer style act 6 puck in it. I replaced the slave and line for now and all is well. However, I will be installing a piece that relocates the slave a little closer to the fork to prevent the slave from over extending, which is what causes the slaves to blow. Once I have time to install, I'll report back on if it makes any difference. Couple folks have reported success with it, so we'll see. 20230701_110644.jpg 20230626_191857.jpg

WOW ! I'm not the only one that uses a Dash Hawk, got mine way back in 2009 for getting MZ specific PIDs....mine is just above steering column in lower front of tach / mph nacelles.

More power to you if you want to keep the OEM boost pillar thing turned on. You can turn it off (if you want) with KOEO then pump the trip meter switch on the right a few times. Thats how to do it on a Pu at least.

Oh nice. Didn't know that was possible. I don't mind it though.

i dont even think you need to have the engine off, i have dont it by accident a few times resetting both trips after refuelling

This thing is fucking slow lol. And boo on rob for lowering the stock Rev limit from 6750 to 6500. Who does that!? Really wish I could get a copy of ATR for this thing so I could re-tune it myself

Template public:_media_site_embed_youtube not found. Try rebuilding or reinstalling the s9e/MediaSites add-on.

He was very conservative in his tunes. I do know Rob closed shop a number of years ago after some FB drama, plus personal and family health issues. I have not heard from him in 5 years maybe.

Ive got a v2 with atr. Dunno how the logistics would work (if at all). I don't plan on ever tuning myself.

I have a 2012, so maybe? Just spent 30 minutes looking in backups for it and didn't spot it. So TBD on if I still even have a copy.
