Good to see you on here, man. Excited to see how it turns out after tuning and to watch your tail lights fade away! :D

Any status updates, Jason? Excited especially to see the tuning begin!

Engine is ready to be pulled. Been dealing with the axle not coming out, but looks like I might be able to get the engine out with it still in the trans.

Pulled the engine out Saturday. Huge thanks to @Dub-S2K and Sumo for their help. David could probably do this in his sleep. lol

And dropped off several things to get powder coated, including my valve cover after having a bung welded to vent it.

[doublepost=1459140618][/doublepost]The axle came out with the trans. Once we put the engine on the ground, we were able to pop the axle out by prying above it as opposed to below it when everything was still in the car.

I'm taking the axle back to where I had it replaced in 2014 to see what they'll do for me. It's separated at the u-joint but I never had a problem with it until we tugged on it.

Going to clean up the engine bay and finish assembling the engine this week and hopefully have it ready to go in and started by the weekend.

lmao...i haven't done anything this week but i'll probably put a few hours in on the new engine after work.

i need to torque the mains. i didn't measure rod stretch, but according to the sheet, 100ft-lbs is right in the middle. torquing with 30w oil.
then i need to pull the oil pump off my old engine and use those bolts to put the new oil pump on the new engine.
after that, i can throw the head on and get the thing ready to be dropped in saturday.

How close are you? Thanks for the shout out and I'd be happy to help some more since I am free this weekend. Mine is pulling like a beast...might be experiencing some clutch slippage though...must mean that hp and torque number is increasing. (:

Ran into a problem putting the head on Wednesday. I think when the machine shop removed the dowel pins, they became out of round preventing the head from sliding on.

o.0 With such an experienced machine shop, such things ought not happen, right? I really don't know, but that scares me a little.

I don't know how it could be prevented. Thin metal that's pressed into a hole. David said that they replace them every time on rebuilds.

Ah, good to know. I was thinking solid pegs, not pegs that're like rings.

Got the pins in Saturday and the head slid right on.
