I recently did a few things to my car. This post will be full of pics and if you have questions let me know. I will post all the parts with links. I did not measure the DB before I did all this but I can say it made a very noticeable difference windows up and just cruising, the car feels more like a nice sedan now rather than a tin box. My car is kinda gross from previous owner and I know I did not route the wires super pretty but deal with it.

SUB UPDATE 6/13/18
I ended up going with a low profile sub box as I could no longer wait to do fiberglass and see the sub just sit there. If I decide to fiberglass I will update this thread. I am really happy with the bass. It is not super crazy but it is more than enough for the small car. It fills in where I need it and gives that nice kick. I was able to take a little stress off the door speakers and move it to the sub for a better blend.

You should weigh all of the equipment and soundproofing to get an idea if how much weight will be added so VD can stay accurate lol. Im guessing 200lbs. I bet it will sound awesome with a quiet cabin!

I`m pretty sure my calibration is off but since I got the new tires it`s only about 2bd louder at 70 than it is at idle. I may get froggy and do a fiberglass enclosure for a small sub in the jack well but for now I`m just happy she`s quiet enough for the 4K mile trip coming up in July.

There is a vehicles scale near me I should probably see what it is. I am sure it is not light but this car is DD so meh. If I wanted a strip down race car that is what I would build. It does sound much better in the cabin. I need to get that sub going as the speakers can only handle so much without complaining lol.

Gl hopefully you added more material to the door then the few patches in that picture thou....
Any reason you went with JVC for a deck maby things have changed a bit but i thought it was a low end deck.

That class d amp for a svc 1500 watt sub seens a little off. It has a 70 amp fuse so at 80% maby thats 800 watts peak into 2 ohms. At 4 ohms thats like 400 peak and maby 250 rms. That seems low for a 1500 watt sub. GlWB.

I did add deadner inside the door and also added some to the back of the door cards. I used about 30% coverage as I wasn't trying to win any medals lol.

JVC has always been good to me and I have never had issues, they are cheaper but they just work and I like that. This deck has great features such as EQ per input, Time Align, CrossOver per front , rear, sub and a lot of other nice features. I did not see any reason to spend more on the other decks just to get HD radio which I rarely use. I was very surprised and how feature rich it is for the price and the sound quality is excellent.

The sub is rated at 400 rms at 4 ohm which met the specs of what the amp said it could do. I also already had the amp from a previous build so figured I would just use it. I was looking for something low profile to fit on the side and the pioneer has great reviews, great sensitivity and small enclosure space so that is why I picked it. I am not looking for car rattling explosion bass just something nice to fill in the low end where the speakers can't go. The days of 4 - 12's in the trunk are behind me lol.

What happen to the Eonon radio?
I am going to be selling it @SharksInSpace has dibs on it right now. I did not have any issues with it but the RCA outs are pretty weak and there is very limited control over audio. I really liked it when I was stock speakers but when I went with this setup it could not really keep up and I could hear the SQ flaws and not do anything to adjust them. I had looked into a bunch of options to improve it but they all fell short in one way or another and could not guarantee I would get the sound I was looking for.

I would recommend if you are going with this sub to just get the box that pioneer offers with it at the time even if you want to do a custom enclosure in the future the price for them together is hard to beat.

Man, I knew I shouldn’t have come into this forum. I am both wanting and not wanting to add my sound system into my ride. The mex connectors almost made me set my car on fire last time I did this lol.

Do you know of a place that sells a good box for the Gen 2? I need a cubic foot for my sub. I can’t seem to find I like.

I remember a guy that went by zoomzoomboomboxes that made custom enclosures that bolted into the jack storage area of the hatch. Not sure if he's still around.

Facking amazing! Most of the leads I found in MSF lead to dead ends and Crutchfield was shit for MS3 boxes. Thank you, both!
