I was clearing crap out of my garage and came across my stock CATs from my MS6. I think they have less than 25k miles on them, but I don't remember exactly. Anyway, I was just wondering what to do with them? Think anybody with a stock MS6 exhaust but bad cats would want them? Could I sell them for the metal? (But I wouldn't want someone to think they were stolen, LOL) It just seems like a waste to throw them out. But whatever I do with them I don't to be accused of stealing them. Bottom line is, what do other people do with their stock CATs?

Seriously, they are worth money at the recycler. If you took them off without using a sawsall, I dont thing they would say anything. If they do, show a car pic, or an ownership.

I have the entire pipes for the CATs. I didn't know where to recycle them, but I googled and found one in the area. I guess I will take them there.

Or make a "legal" racepipe :p
I'm going to use this for my yearly checkup where the exhaust gases have to be within certain limits

So, I started this thread like 2 years ago. I finally got around to actually taking my stock cats to the recycler. (word "vet" was suggested as I was about to type "recycler", LOL.) I just kept putting it off, but finally did it. I don't remember where my title is, I guess I should get a duplicate. Therefore, I took my registration page to the recycler. They actually scanned a copy of the registration. They took a photo of me. They took a photo of my car including the plate. And they wanted a thumbprint! Jeez. One guy did the evaluation, and then someone in the office gave me the check. The first guy said that the second guy would also ask for my SSN. I was going to just give a dummy number, but he didn't actually ask.

The primary CAT, the one near the engine, they gave me $125 for. The second one on the little pipe that people replace with a test pipe, they only gave $30. I think the secondary CAT is only a 2-way instead of a 3-way CAT. So they gave me a check for $155.

I said that I thought it was excessive, the documentation they wanted. They are obviously my CATs, not cut with a sawz-all. The guy just said them's the rules, they get all kinds. He said people will come in and say, "hey, this just fell off the car in front of me, how much will ya give me for it?" He said he tells them they need to get a better story.

Nice feedback! I've my stock speed 6 California! System and was going to give to whomever I sell (maybe) my 6 roller chassis if I decide too. Now I know cash is king. So glad to see some positive $ back.
