So, I started this thread like 2 years ago. I finally got around to actually taking my stock cats to the recycler. (word "vet" was suggested as I was about to type "recycler", LOL.) I just kept putting it off, but finally did it. I don't remember where my title is, I guess I should get a duplicate. Therefore, I took my registration page to the recycler. They actually scanned a copy of the registration. They took a photo of me. They took a photo of my car including the plate. And they wanted a thumbprint! Jeez. One guy did the evaluation, and then someone in the office gave me the check. The first guy said that the second guy would also ask for my SSN. I was going to just give a dummy number, but he didn't actually ask.
The primary CAT, the one near the engine, they gave me $125 for. The second one on the little pipe that people replace with a test pipe, they only gave $30. I think the secondary CAT is only a 2-way instead of a 3-way CAT. So they gave me a check for $155.
I said that I thought it was excessive, the documentation they wanted. They are obviously my CATs, not cut with a sawz-all. The guy just said them's the rules, they get all kinds. He said people will come in and say, "hey, this just fell off the car in front of me, how much will ya give me for it?" He said he tells them they need to get a better story.
