The ButtStallion Build

Welp, it's about time that I hopped on the built bandwagon. I've been pushing the car pretty hard since I bought it, so it was only a matter of time. A few weeks ago, my car started running really shitty, sputtering really bad, and barely staying alive. I decided to pull the plugs and check the coils. Plug #2 was coated in oil. I had been losing oil for a bit, so rather than wait for it to REALLY blow up, I'm going to build it before it can really mess something up. Can't complain about ~142k miles and a majority of them at 400+ tq.

A little history of the car:

Bought at 33k miles in 2013 and after meeting @Enki and @udntknw for the first time, it was all downhill from there. I hadn't ever worked on any of my cars, and really didn't care much about them until I got my speed. I went to my second ever Mazda meet with them in Sierra Vista for a partout and was planning on buying a rear motor mount from the guy. I ended up leaving with a JBR TIP/SRI, JBR RMM, Accessport, and eventually Cobb Downpipe from the same guy. After looking around for a tuner for a bit @Enki convinced me to just tune it myself... and thus, ButtStallion Tuning was created.

Around 114k miles, I ended up buying @Enki 's turbo setup among other things when he decided to go all in. Here is a dyno pull of it fairly recently:

It'll be nice to clean out the engine bay since everything is disgusting in there.

I'll keep this updated, but this whole process has been taking a while unfortunately. Once I get the motor back and in the car, I'll have a whole lot of re-tuning to do, especially when I add the meth in for some extra fueling headroom.

I've always loved silver gen 2's. There is just something about them. Anyways, your car looks amazing, and good luck with your build.

Actually pulling the engine out of the car seems like the most intimidating part of an engine build to me.

This is going to be sweet when it's done. Do you have a power goal in mind?

I thought the same thing, but honestly, it's kind of liberating just tearing everything out of the car.

The turbo will be my bottleneck after all is said and done, I'm not sure where I'll be at, but I'm probably going to have to get something bigger (probably a 7163) later.

nah, putting it all back is where I'd be crazy nervous about screwing something up.
Lots of little labelled baggies with all of the bolts in them. Shouldn't be too bad. After the teardown I feel like I'm not too worried about putting it all back together now.

Do you mind if I ask what speed solutions asks for the build? I just hit 90k and would like to be ahead of the curve and “build” on my time. Still feeling things out.

@Speed Solutions LLC could probably work something out with you man. I've been adding a bunch of stuff, so my quotes probably aren't of much use to you (more on that in OP later).

Hit me up Ill hook you up with a build that can handle some real power at a reasonable price

Loaded up and ready to go. Shipping her out tomorrow.

Thanks to Kevin, Brian, and @batmsp6 for coming by and helping me out with this!

Will update once @Speed Solutions LLC receives and lets me know how it looks...

Supposed to receive engine on monday so ill let you know as soon as I get it and tear it apart!!! One way or the other though, this thing will not be anywhere near what it was before.

I'd go through like 8 rolls of masking tape putting little loops around each side of each connector
At a certain point of the teardown you get to the "screw it" stage. I know where all of it goes, so I'm not super worried about it, but a local said that he taped and labeled each end of each connector. Ain't nobody got time for that.

Got some pictures from @Speed Solutions LLC the other day.

Remember my old thread Vash's Lean Knocky Story Time? Well here is the aftermath of that:

Cylinder walls look good, so if could've been much worse. The engine teardown is going well and fortunately there isn't really anything too crazy to report. Here are a couple more pics of the teardown:

Can't wait to get this back up and running. The Sentra beater kills me a little bit each time I have to drive it...
