Could you buy a more reliable car for 5-6k? If not then get wrenching
No, not much of a truck guy and I have no interest in putting money in the Miata. I do kinda want a new bike though...
Most likely I’m going to take the wife’s 19’ Oddy as a daily and trade in the speed towards a Jeep for her. New bike will have to wait.

Fair point, but I could take my wife's reliable car and buy her a damn Jeep to get her off my ass about me having 3 toys and her not having a fun car. lmao Do I think a wrangler is fun, not particularly, but if it would make her happy so be it. Damn irrational creatures.
Ken, that is quite a nice driveway you have there. I have decided to start making preparations to send the speed on to her next home. As a swiss army knife of a car, the speed is pretty damn hard to beat. For 5 years of its life my speed was a daily, kid hauler and weekend warrior. I'll never forget it and I loved it for it.
Over the two years I have gotten the motorcycle and now the Miata, we bought the wife a new van. I compare it to people in the motorcycle community who own several bikes for specific purposes. You don't see a lot of those guys own a swiss army knife motorcycle. They have a canyon carver, a cruiser, a dual sport, sometimes a drag bike, etc. I am going to stock out in the next couple of months and get a Wrangler Rubicon, it'll allow me to get into a bit of a new hobby and give my wife a vehicle she actually thinks of as fun. Besides, I'm angling to get a new motorcycle in a couple of years, gotta start stacking up the brownie points again since I cashed them out for the Miata.
I have thought about selling mine as well but the thing that stops me is that I already sold one speed3 and regreted it. I sold it for a Toyota Tacoma and while the Tacoma is a useful ride it was sooooo boring so I got rid of it and got another speed3. Now I have a beater jeep for when the weather gets nasty and a motorcycle for when it is nice. This leads to my current dilemma, I still have the speed but I don't drive it at all really because I don't want to take it out if it is nasty but if it is too nice outside I will take the bike...so the speed stays in the garage unless my kids ask to take it into town instead of the wife's car. I don't think that I am going to get rid of it to be honest because when I do drive it I still love it, plus there are a couple of mods I still want to throw at it.
I kind of run into this same issue. I have a bike (1970 CL350) that I rarely ride. I have the LeMans now for nice weather day. The speed was a year round DD. That car being what it was never made sense to me to not drive. Its not going to go up in value, so why not use it every day? why drive boring stuff on crappy days? Ive never been one to understand the mentality of trying to "save miles" on a speed. I had mine for 9 years and 130k of driving and I loved it all. Eventually it would have died (if I hadn't killed it too soon) and I would have moved on, but at least I got to use it.
I just have too many to drive now. It's not so much about saving miles on the speed because when I do drive it I enjoy it but if the weather is above 60 degrees, I probably won't be driving it because of the motorcycle. If there is snow on the ground, same thing because of the jeep. So I guess on the 40 or 50 degree days where riding the bike is less desirable I will jump in the Mazda.
I guess my point was less about the milage and more about my reason for thinking about getting rid of it. I don't drive it as often as I used to and it bums me out to see it sitting there. With that being said, I haven't even attempted to sell it because when I do drive it I enjoy it...plus it's paid for.
PS the boring stuff on crappy days is because I live in the South Dakota. Yes, I have driven the speed in the snow but having the 4x4 and extra clearance in the jeep makes me feel better plus if the jeep gets hailed on in the early summer thunderstorms I don't really care. When I say crappy days I don't mean I won't drive it in the rain or when the roads are clear (I still have a set of snow tires for the speed) just that it is my "nice" car and if I can keep it that way that's the goal.
Cool.Speed was great in the snow. Slap the snow tires on it and have at it! I drove my speed year round and unless there was like 8" or more snow on the roads, then I took the jeep. A good spray wash every other week or so kept the rust off mine just fine.
